Cute cozy ambiance, though it’s really stuffy on a hot day. Patio space was nice, but the tables were sticky even after a good wipe down. Staff was friendly. Came here on a Tuesday evening. Had the Veggie Taco ($4) and Margarita ($8.5) with tamarind tequila and watermelon slush. Margarita was good and refreshing. Would want this on a hot day. Except for the sticky syrup rim they put around the cup. It slowly dripped down the sides from the heat, making it impossible to hold without getting red sticky syrup on my hands. Just get rid of the rim. Not worth it. Veggie Taco had no flavour. It was black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and guac. Guacamole is just mushed, liquidy avocados. Couldn’t even taste the lime. Black beans tasted like it came from a can. Could have really done with some seasoning, lime and cilantro. Tastes like a white version of a taco.

Stopped in for dinner during our short visit in Nelson based on a craving for Mexican cuisine & the positive reviews online. We were beyond happy with our experience! Lazaro (sp?) and his family were so lovely through every interaction & the food was so good, we got a second order each to-go to enjoy later. Smiles all around from the whole family working in the kitchen in some extreme heat. We had the huichol bowl with turkey chorizo and the taco salad with braised beef. 10/10. They generously accommodated special requests to remove dairy and package our takeout orders safely for enjoying later. The patio was cozy with fun decor. A great vibe overall. Definitely a place we'll be thinking about after we leave the city! Wishing you and your family the very best, and thank you for making our day.

El Taco is the best place to eat in Nelson cash/weight and they're fast. They hook you up with a monster burrito, it's delicious, and with a tip it's $15. In this economy you can't expect to fill the tank for less. I'm dairy free and they always replace the dairy with avo by default. It's pretty hot in there which is the perfect environment when you come in damp+cold from skiing/winter sports. Always smiles behind the counter, this place is my most frequented restaurant in town. I love you El Taco. PS: try to down a burrito without spilling/dripping. It's not easy but it can be done, best of luck

I have never had guacamole or sour cream that is watery? Why is theirs? Makes so sense unless they are cheaping out while still charging a lot of money for their food! Soup cold and I don’t live far. Seems like many Nelson restaurants give short shrift if you order out! Less food. Not to mention even if you order extra avocado and pay for it you won’t get it. I was just in Mexico and there isn’t even a comparison. The Jamaica juice is bitter and tastes old. I think many locals don’t have a lot of experience with good food and that might explain the good reviews. Mexican food is not expensive so I see no excuse for this to be so substandard and EXPENSIVE! Is there actually ANY chicken in the chicken quesadillas? There is much work to do to improve the quality of the food in this restaurant. They are resting on their laurels because we live in a small town but I haven’t always and I can say with 100% certainty this food is not quality or up to par! I don’t think anyone born in Mexico would recognize it! These guys are trying to save a buck by sacrificing quality and...

Phenomenal mexican place in Nelson. The atmosphere is unmatched, super friendly, and lots of locals to chat with. Adorable street side, covered patio, perfect stop before or after a ride. Their burritos are at the top of the local competition. 1.5 lbs of pure heaven, wraped in high quality dough. You leave here full, satisfied, and it doesnt break the bank. Highly affordable, especially for what you get. I cannot reccomend the turkey chorizo enough. Can choose how spicy you want it, and choose if you want hot sauce as a side. Taking a bite, had the same feeling as the first bite into a piece of pizza. Its so good, everytime. Ive been to El Taco a lot, and never regret it. If youre hungry, and want some good food. Call El Taco, and get a burrito, your stomac will be happy you did. Fantastic location too. Easy street side access, right off of Victoria. So you can get in, and get out, without having to brave the...

Hey yo, nice to be here I attended your restaurant barefoot the other day, and also have to compliment the employee behind the counter going ahead and making the name John for me since my nervous response was taken as that I would be comfortable not.

I do wish they would have put the spice the hot sauce whatever it was if it were to have been in the soup already, I don't like to be a bother and he said it was foing to be on the side and that was my chance to say something and I didn't, so it is my fault, but the world we are living in. Environmentalism aside, the small bowl for 7+ felt more like a 4ish value and compounded with my feeling that they put the carbon footprint obligation on me as the customer sort of makes me wonder if eating out has much value to me.

Tasted great by the way, I would have enjoyed more if I didn't have to think about all the other stuff. It pains me to feel I am ruining a good meal...
