Outer Clove Restaurant — Restaurant in Nelson

Quite disappointed , after my girlfriend kept going on for months about how good the food was and raved about the caesar salad, we finally got to go eat at the restaurant. While looking at the menu I found it too be quite overpriced for what we received.  The caesar salad was very bland and disappointing at a $12 charge which we received what seemed to be a side caesar and not a full , as was the chicken quasar burger which had zero to no flavour. I also pointed out too the waitress that I have a slight allergy to tomatoes and did not want it on my burger. She was kind about it, but than once the burger was brought to the table it had a tomato on it.. even when we had a good conversation about my situation with them. She offered to make me a new burger which was nice, but I was not willing to wait another 40+ minutes for a burger that already did not look very appealing to begin with. All in all was a poor experience for being my first time there. The waitress was very friendly and cut our caesar salad price in half , but I do not plan on going back. From what I've heard , the restaurant is not the same as it used to be, as I've heard many good things about the place in general. Anyways, I hope others have a better...

My husband and I were visiting Nelson for two days. We seldom eat out anymore, so I was very much looking forward to a nice dinner out. We chose The Outer Clove because we liked the idea of the diverse European cuisine and the reviews were very good. Unfortunately, we left feeling very disappointed in the food. Honestly, it was like fast food. We were in and out of that restaurant in under 30 minutes-that included being seated and paying the bill! Five minutes after ordering our food, it was being brought out to us. I knew at that moment that there was no way that this was freshly made. The food was not hot, only warm. The dishes did not even look like the pictures I've seen posted from others. And it wasn't that anything tasted bad, but it was all just okay. And for what we paid for our meals, I expected hot at the very least! The service was excellent and the restaurant itself is adorable. And I will also say we enjoyed the Czech beer and the house red wine. But I can't honestly recommend this restaurant...

Very please with our experience last night. The atmosphere was so comfortable, and even the live music was lovely and not too loud, so everyone could chat and enjoy themselves. The young lady who served us was polite, helpful, and attentive but gave us lots of space. The food was delicious. Nice sized portions on everything. We enjoyed the calamari and Langos to start. Both were fantastic, and the fried bread was super good. I had a wild mushroom crepe with the salad, the sauce on the crepe was very rich, and I was very happy with the variety of mushrooms inside. My husband ordered Paprikas, which he enjoyed. Their kids' menu is great, and they were happy to grill a bun with just cheese for my picky eater. My oldest got an Orbit veggie burger, which was amazing looking and tasty, according to her.
