A few minor negatives but they were outweighed by the positives :). We’d stay here again!
Not particularly friendly or welcoming at check in and not sure why I bothered to do the online check in via the email I was sent the night before as front desk ended up asking me all the same questions anyway lol. Great convenient free parking across the street.
Trolleys for luggage as you walk in were greatly appreciated. Hume 2 Go for dinner (The Best Western Plus in Nelson is owned by same people as the Hume Hotel) was excellent!!!—customer service via phone and delivery person were great…..we had the 5star Dublin burger, chili lime brussel sprouts, salad, Tuscan pizza with whole roasted garlic cloves, and turtle cheesecake—all amazing!
I had requested a fan in our room 3 times— once when initially booking, once on the online check in, and once at the front desk in person, however it never came but I called front desk right before bed at midnight and it was brought right away with a smile :). Room was clean although I was surprised to see a few cracked/chipped dingy bathroom tiles in a $250 a night room, but beds were very comfortable and pillows were fantastic. Air conditioning worked well. Lots of room.
Appreciated the fridge and freezer and extra pillows and blanket! Decor simple, modern and relaxing. Hot tub experience for my husband was excellent in every way.
Breakfast coupons for 1 breakfast for each of us (even though we were there for two days) at attached restaurant “Marzano” takes a dollar or two off regular price but not worth it—customer service was excellent, however my Granola fruit bowl was a 2 tbsp sour yogurt smear on a plate, a tbsp of granola, and 6 bites of orange and grapefruit full of large seeds, no strawberry syrup or gremolata as menu stated. ( Head up the street to Full Circle Cafe for a great breaky!) Free coffee in lobby with flavourings was appreciated!
Pet friendly hotel and that was great— but definitely time to have the carpets cleaned in the rooms. Housekeeping was super friendly and we had some laughs with them while they...
Read moreThe room was large and comfortable. It included a microwave and a mini-frig with a freezer section. Freezer compartments matter to me because I keep a small icechest in my car with cheese, cold cuts, and a small bottle of mayo for impromptu picnics. I’ve found that a frozen water bottle (or a re-freezable coldpack) is the easiest, neatest, way to keep it cool—ice cubes make a mess. There is a convenient free BW guest parking immediately across the street from the entrance. The BW has no breakfast room. Instead guests are given a $5 voucher for breakfast in a restaurant about a half-block away. That works out fine in good weather — I’m not so sure when it is raining or snowing. Surprisingly the $5 voucher will actually get you a full breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs, 2 strips of bacon, a small portion of home fries, and 2 slices of toast. But no juice or coffee. If that corresponds to your dietary needs or tastes, then great. If not, it will cost you at least another $15 for any other option with something to drink. No electric outlets were available on the bedside lamptable. Unfortunately the afternoon check-in desk clerk was very haughty and condescending, almost to the point of rudeness or hostility. We are a polite, friendly, well dressed, mature couple, and gave him absolutely no reason nor excuse for such behavior. The morning crew was very friendly and polite. We would not stay at this...
Read moreThis hotel had one major flaw, otherwise would have received a 5+ star rating. Parking and unloading is a joke! To unload and reload luggage, you must park on a sloping street. The heavy cart and luggage was so hard to keep still and once the luggage got piled on, it all fell off due to the slope. My grocery bag of goodies, mostly apples, all rolled downhill, while I tried to back slowly down to gather it all up. Pushing the cart back uphill had me at an almost horizontal angle. Then trying to hold the cart, get the door open was impossible. I had to wait for a man to open the door for himself and then cut him off with the momentum of the cart. Not one staff member helped me. I am 64 & a small female. The accommodations were perfect, the room so clean I was surprised! It was the first hotel room I would ever take a bath in and that says a lot! Bed very comfortable too! Little children let loose on our floor to scream and run up and down the hall but quieted after 10:30pm. Parking for your vehicles is across the street in a large space. Luckily our window overlooked our car so if someone broke into it, we’d at least hear the horn. Checkout was just as hairy pushing the cart and keeping it still while loading our vehicle. So, beware. Get someone to help you load and unload your cart, otherwise, you will get a workout and...
