HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I have been traveling to Nelson for a 1-2 week stay at least once a year for over 20 consecutive years, so I am very familiar with all of the available Hotels/Airbnb etc. I can say that, hands down, Stirling offers the best experience, regardless of price. The fact that it is a significantly better deal than any of the local hotels is a bonus. The building is well-designed and maintained, and the suites are comfortable, well-appointed, and spotless. They think of everything - comfort, convenience, and utility are a big step above anything else I have experienced in Nelson. In addition to all the creature comforts (Bed, Bath, Linens/Towel quality, Dining area, couch/TV, etc.) you would expect from any good hotel, the kitchenette, appliances (gas stove, new spacious fridge, full complement of small appliances, cooking utensils, etc.) are unlike anything else on offer in the area. They are located right downtown, within a few minutes walk from the area's best restaurants, markets, coffee shops, and pubs. On any day, you can take a 2-minute walk to the co-op and cook yourself a gourmet meal using local ingredients in your kitchen, or choose to hit up any of the great local restaurants/cafes. In addition, the owners: Elon and Mureika are super friendly, attentive, and available. On my most recent trip, my Aunt was booked in the local 'fancy Hotel' (at well over 2x the price), and as soon as I showed her my suite, she canceled her remaining stay and moved to the Stirling that same day. It will be the only place she stays from now on. I travel a lot; an excellent place to stay is often the difference between a relaxing vacation and a nightmare. This is why I am so thankful that Nelson finally has a genuinely excellent Hotel that can meet the needs and exceed the expectations of any traveler. I am a fan for life. Check it out! Read moreTo be honest, I don't expect much these days from Air BnB's, vacation rentals or Hotels. They continually disappoint. Absolutely non of this applies to the Sterling All Suites. Continually shocked is an understatement.
Usually there is less in a suites kitchen then a 18 year old student bachelor would have. Not here, their kitchens were as fully stocked with everything that I have in my kitchen at home. I can't even begin to explain how amazing this is. I cook and prepared all of my meals at home, access to all of my tools is essential. I prepared a home cooked meal for 11 people when I stayed at the Sterling All Suites with my friends.
Parking is easy, there is lots on the street and they are working creating more onsite.
Everything is less then 5 minutes of walking from the Hotel. Bars, Pubs, Groceries, Coffee Shops. The location is perfect.
Marika was a pleasure to deal with and organized everything very well in the days before we left to start our journey to Nelson. She is very friendly, kind and a generous hostess.
Elon was full of energy, willing to go above and beyond and took a couple hours out of his day to share his and Marika's back stories with us. Elon is a great person to be around and gave us a ton of great local advise. As well as great travel advise about Japan, California and Hawaii, these are only a few of the places this amazing couple has lived.
It was an absolute pleasure to meet both of them and I wouldn't hesitate to go back myself, bring a group or just grab a drink...

The contactless checkin/out worked well (after a small, short snafu) and was a pleasure not having to tote around a room key(s) during our stay. Our room was spotless and well appointed, in fact, I thought that we were the first to stay in it (found out we were not).
Room design was very well thought out, with all the amenities needed for a short or even an extended stay. Dish soap, laundry soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were all provided. And so was the most important amenity, REAL coffee and filters from a local roaster! Kitchen utensils were in brand new condition and well thought out as to what is needed for a comfortable stay.
The midtown hotel is on a quiet street, within walking distance to awesome shopping and dining, including dining choices right next door.
If there was any inconvenience at all, it was street parking, but it really wasn't that bad. By 9PM, spaces opened up right outside the hotel door. I would not hesitate to stay here again, due to parking.
If you are an EV driver, there 2 FLO network DCFC stations, less than a block down the hill behind the hotel.
I highly recommend Stirling All Suites Hotel if you're...
