Very disappointing. This restaurant had excellent reviews on multiple websites, but the food was not good at all. The rice was bland, the taste and texture of the fish just wasn't right and nothing was visually attractive. The restaurant smelled unpleasant, fishy and a bit sour, poor lighting and a generally run-down appearance. The waitress was pleasant but seemed distracted and uninterested in the food. The menu was very limited and didn't even offer types of rolls that are frequently seen in the grocery store. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I'm hoping it doesn't...

Absolutely phenomenal Japanese food. From living in Japan for more than five years, I would say the dishes served at Kurama are, hands down, the best around. Absolutely fantastic and fresh nigiri; the tuna, hamachi, and salmon are especially delicious. Their Kurama rice is awesome and their miso burgers for Burger Month are incredibly unique and tasty. In these times of razor-thin restaurant profit margins, their prices are also very reasonable. Wasn't too impressed the first time I went in there, the waiter was unattentive didn't know the menu to well she seemed uninterested and I had to send back a cold bowl of rice that they then just microwaved wich wasn't to appealing after sushi was good, Other than the fact my spicy salmon roll had no spicy sauce or any spice at all in it. It had a nice ambiance in there and service was quick, maybe just take a little more time to make sure everything is sent out right! I will most likely come back next year and give it another...
