I was so looking forward to a Lobster dinner last night. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. We waited over 1 1/2 hours for our meals, only to have it served slightly warm! Very disappointing, I sent it back. They offered to make me something different, I said no thanks because the others were already eating their warm (not hot) food and they would be done before I would get my food. She said fish and chips could be served quickly, again I said no, I didn’t want fried food I came for the lobster. I’ve seen in other reviews that the fish and chips took a long time the day they were there. A friend had the warm lobster and ate it because she was so hungry and said it was tough, assuming it was over cooked. When she opened the body part of her lobster their were lobster eggs inside 😲 The table next to us got their food (lobster) before us and we’re seated after us, but they also waited a long time and went up and asked how much longer. The staff was not very attentive at checking on tables for water or drink refills. Another table of 4 left before they got their food because it took so long, he said other tables were getting their food before them and they were there first. Saw a couple of other ladies go up and ask about getting their meals. We arrived at 7, the tables were all full, but no line to get in. Plenty of staff. My friend had to go up to the bar to get her drink refilled because no one was coming to see if we needed anything more. The waitress said they need at least 20 minutes to cook the lobster, but they had so many orders, she said they cook them and line them up to crack them. I guess that’s why they weren’t hot, because they did all the lobster orders together. There is a big difference between 20 minutes and...
Read moreOur party of eleven dined here, and i was initially delighted to discover another dining option in Rocky Harbour. To our pleasant surprise, every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. We had the Lobster Roll, which boasted tender, succulent lobster meat, and the Seafood Chowder, a hearty, flavorful soup that was bursting with fresh seafood. The Pull Pork Sandwich was tender and juicy, offering a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. The Steamed Mussels were cooked to perfection, with a hint of the sea mingling with the subtly flavored broth. The Pan Fried Cod was a revelation, the fish was flaky and seasoned just right. The Mussel Spaghetti was a delightful fusion of pasta and seafood, while the Pulled Bear Sandwich was an adventurous and pleasantly surprising choice, with a unique yet satisfying taste.
Yes, you read it right! They offer both bear and moose meat in their burgers and pulled sandwiches. Every single person in our group was more than satisfied and thoroughly delighted with their meal. I foresee this restaurant becoming one of the top choices within the national park area. I plan to recommend it to all my tour group guests in the...
Read moreFor somewhere that advertises bear and moose meat, this restaurant had some stellar vegetarian options. It was hard to find any veggie food that wasn't a salad and fries in the area, so it was nice to be able to have a veggie burger and a choice of dishes.
The staff were friendly and the decor was lovely - the artwork displayed across the walls was gorgeous. We visited very early in the evening after a long day of driving but we could see that it is clearly a very busy restaurant at peak times.
I am giving the restaurant 5 stars because I don't believe in letting personal views get in the way of the truth, and I truly think this restaurant deserves all 5. However I have to note that I really do not agree with hunting and eating bears. I am sure it is a huge draw for the restaurant and I do not blame them for having the dish on their menu, but it did make me balk as we pulled into the parking lot and almost made me not want to go in. Not for me to judge or deride, but worth noting that it was a factor for me even though we had a...
