We attended the anchors aweigh show and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. A pretty decent selection of bottled and tap beers and a waitstaff that was extremely friendly attentive and made a pleasant night even more memorable. We did not eat, but the other tables around us did and all of the food looked quite delicious. I can’t say enough about the show itself, it was great! Excellent musicians and music interspersed with witty banter. And again, all of the waitresses were top-notch

Such a fun time at the Kitchen Party. $15 cover. One man sang and told stories and got the crowd into the action. : men played guitar and sang. Then he got the women then the men up to dance after he had passed out home made instruments to rattle or bang along with his music. My husband along with 20 others were ā€œScreeched Inā€. A silly fun ceremony of reading a pledge, then drink Screech (local alcohol), then kiss a cod fish - hysterical! He is now an honorary Newfie.

Great Lunch after visiting Gros Morne Park. The food was so delicious and came right out! Very generous portions and amazing service. Thank you to the two lovely ladies who served us, you were a highlight of the trip. The views of this did not disappoint, it is called OceanView after all. Will definitely visit again once I’m back in NF.

I went to the Anchors Aweigh show last night. I was quite disappointed. Especially for the effort I made to go and the price I paid. I don't know how this got such high reviews. While the playing and singing talent is there, their need to interject bathroom humor to make it "adults only" was not beneficial to the overall experience. I really did not understand most of the words that were said, and I had a good seat. The drummer had a lot of commentary that I couldn't even hear. I guess it was supposed to be funny but since I couldn't hear it, it wasn't. I did not recognize any of the music played nor did I feel it represented Newfoundland. Portraying one of the band members as being mentally challenged wasn't funny. At the start of the second half they've played an upbeat song that was a little toe tappy and I had hopes that maybe the rest of the set would be more enjoyable. It wasn't memorable in a good way. The first half I could have completely done without. I also felt misled in being told I needed to get there early, by 6pm, to get a good seat so I sat alone for nearly 2 hours when I could have made a reservation closer to the time for start of the show. I felt they just said that to force you to order your meal there. The food was okay. The bartenders were slow. I tried to make the best of it but I cannot recommend this to anyone I care about. It felt like typical tour bus entertainment that I try to avoid. I did meet some nice folks sitting next to me and I really wanted to find something nice to say about this whole experience, but after spending nearly two weeks in Cape Breton just prior to this and enjoying the uplifting experience of attending many, many events for their Kitchenfest week, I walked away from the Anchor Pub...

We recently stayed in a cottage in Rocky Harbour, and one evening, my two friends and I decided to have some drinks. A Google search indicated that Anchor Pub was the only pub in the area.

We arrived at the pub around 7 pm and found a young lady at the front desk selling entry tickets. When we asked for a table for three, she informed us that they had a sold-out live show starting at 8 pm and, despite the many empty tables in the dining room, she could not let us in. As we were about to leave, we noticed another couple entering without tickets. The same lady informed them about the live show but allowed them to sit at a table at the rear end of the dining area, which did not have a reservation sign.

This discrepancy surprised us, so we approached her again to ask if we could stay until the show started, as there was still an hour left. Her attitude changed significantly, and another lady at the front desk raised her voice, suggesting that we should go dine at another restaurant down the road. This experience left us feeling unwelcome, and it appeared that we were being treated differently because we were tourists of a different color from Ontario.

Although we had a wonderful experience throughout Newfoundland and Labrador during our two-week vacation, this incident at Anchor Pub in Rocky Harbour left a negative impression. This is incident that always comes to our mind when we think of Rocky Harbour and...

Terrible experience. Had seen on their website about the Kitchen Party and was looking forward to it with my husband and two teens. Planned our day in the area to be there later so we could have dinner and enjoy the show. Sat down at 7:30 (show starts at 8:30) and ordered dinner and drinks. Food was fine - typical pub fare. Was asked around 8:15 if we were staying for the show and we said yes. A staff member came back after the show had started to collect our admission fee and asked about the kids ages. When we said 15 & 17 she told us we had to leave. Apparently you have to be 19 + to remain for the show. I understand how liquor licenses work but this should have been communicated to us when we sat down an hour before the show started. Also, the staff was very unkind about it. Very disappointed in the staff and how this was managed. Can’t help but feel we were taken advantage of for the...
