Incredibly disappointed with our experience last night at the Ocean Room. What appeared to be an upscale dining experience, definitely did not translate to the restaurants food, ambiance, or service. We arrived without reservations, and were told we couldn’t be seated until an hour later, this was fine. We made a reservation and returned an hour later. There were at least a dozen tables without diners when we initially arrived and then again when we returned. I assume this may have been due to being short staffed. We were seated promptly when we returned to a table for two with a lovely view of the harbour. We had our order taken quickly. Our server was friendly and accommodating but seemed inexperienced. We ordered martinis, lobster mushroom caps to start, lobster dinner and lamb shank for entrees. Our martinis were great but it all went downhill from there. The lobster mushroom caps were rather tasteless, the ingredients didn’t meld well together and the mushrooms could have been cooked further to enhance the dish. The Lobster was small which wouldn’t have been a problem but it was also overcooked. The lobster was still edible but just not worth the expense. The lamb shank was the worst part of the whole meal. The meat was tough and full of gristle. I ended up sending it back to the kitchen. I was given the option to select a second meal which was nice, I chose the salmon. I ended up asking for it to go as by the time it came out of the kitchen my mom had already finished her meal. Upon arriving home and finishing the meal the salmon was decent but due to the whole experience it was very underwhelming. I would not recommend this restaurant. It seems to be trying to hard to appear upscale but missing the...
Read moreDined at the ocean view for a special occasion, my 40th birthday. Have to say, we weren’t super impressed by the food or the service. The mushroom caps appetizer was horrible, no flavour, the seafood linguine, for $33 had canned shrimp, and a few small pieces of salmon at best. The signature dish, the pan fried cod, was mediocre, a very small portion of fish for the price. And the $43 steak was also not worth the price. The $40 bottle of wine that was ordered wasn’t delivered on ice , we had to ask for an ice bucket which took a long time to be delivered, the service was rather slow. Unfortunately we won’t be back, which is sad we were looking forward to a great meal. It cost us $250 to feed four people. Not...
Read moreI hate to be this guy because I never really leave negative reviews, but personally my experience here was pretty bad. The steak dinner was so underwhelming me and my girlfriend looked at each other and we both started laughing while eating it. An hour plus wait for lukewarm, overpriced food with no seasoning. For $40 I was expecting a cut of steak that is at least as good as what they would serve me at Jungle Jim's... It was like one of those paper thin fast fry steaks you'd buy at Dominion for 9 bucks. Very disappointing for the cost and the wait. Maybe it was a bad day in the kitchen, or maybe their other menu items are better, but I won't ever come here for a 2nd time...
