barBURRITO — Restaurant in Newmarket

I didn't think my expectations could get any lower since the new owners took over. We used to come to this location weekly but now we are reminded why we dont come here much after every visit.

The first major issue that we had was that we had a literal BEARD hair IN one of the burritos that we got. I brought it up the next time that I was in. What did I get? Sorry. That was it. Absolutely disgusting.

Now I decided to go there today for a change and get two bowls. I walk in the store and the young woman was sitting on the food prep counter, legs dangling over the side as she texted someone on her phone.

It would have been one thing if she hopped off the counter and started taking my order when she saw me come in or acknowledged that I was there (because she did say Hello). But noooo, I had to wait for her to be done texting whoever was so important before she did anything else.

There was even a lady who came in after me who tried to clear her throat to get the girls attention but she was absolutely ignored for at least a total of a minute after I entered the store. (that text must have been super important.)

Then came the order itself. She asked me if I wanted Rice and Beans for both to which I said yes. Never before did I see such a pitiful serving size for both the rice and pinto beans. One of the bowls was not going to have any lettuce so I asked for more rice in ONE of the bowls. So what does she do? She adds more rice to both.

I asked for Jalepenos on both of the bowls. She gave 3 tiny sliced jalepenos and put them on the side of both bowls.

There is so much more I could complain about but honestly what's the point, the service is just getting worse as time goes on.

It's just sad at this point.

If I could give 0 stars, I would as that is what this place deserves...

Okay this review will sound bad because I keep getting screwed and keep going back but I like Bar Burrito selection so I want to go there. I’m embarrassed about how often I’ve ordered Uber from here. I had so many issues with “we’re out of this or that” and forgetting parts of my order. I decided I won’t order uber from here so I can see and check my order. Almost wish I hadn’t. I’ve been three times. Twice the kid was nice but poorly trained and managed. Tonight that kid and another kid (who served me) were there. Claimed they were out of lettuce at 6pm. I convinced him to chop more. Then I noticed how filthy the counters are. Food everywhrre. Cheese failen into the red salsa. Old guac. Empty bins for some veggies. Dumping new meat into container that is almost empty so how old is the stuff on the bottom? These guys could kill someone they’re so careless. God help us for what they might be doing where customers can’t see. Disgusting. Totally the owner/managers fault. Someone responsible needs to manage this place. It’s gross. Shame on the owner. Your carelessness could make people very sick....

Despite being part of a chain, the Barburrito Stonehaven location is something truly special. There's just something about this one that hits differently. As a self-proclaimed burrito expert (yes, I’m a bit obsessed), I can confidently say that this spot sets itself apart. The staff is mostly young workers but they always deliver solid burritos and quesadillas and are all super friendly. The portion sizes are always fair and everything always tastes fresh and delicious. I have no idea how they are so much better than other barburrito locations. Even the northern Reaper burritos, I said don't hold back. They understood the assignment and I got three of these monsters worthy of the title of Canada's spiciest burrito.
