I came here with such high hopes, based on all the positive reviews on here. I was so disappointed in the entire dine-in experience. We arrived early enough in the afternoon that it didn’t seem too busy. We were the only table and the flow of pick up orders seemed to go smoothly. After ordering, a couple came in and placed a takeout order. I was a little surprised that their order was ready before ours, since we had not yet received anything. After that, they processed 5 or 6 more takeout orders while we sat there. It took almost an hour to get the 5 rolls we ordered, despite being the only table.
That alone does not warrant this review, but unfortunately, the experience got worse. Anyone who has been inside knows that the restaurant is quite small, but as the only table, we had a front row seat to one staff member being admonished repeatedly by the owner. At first, he sounded like he was joking, but the things he were saying were honestly kind of mean. He was upset at her about something that had happened the previous day, and he kept saying things like « why are we paying you to do the work for you ». Regardless of the circumstances, I found this extremely unprofessional to do in front of the entire staff and customers in the restaurant.
Finally, the sushi. I have read your reviews, but I just don’t get the raves. It’s not bad, by any means, but it’s certainly not great! There is absolutely nothing special about it… their options were extremely basic and mostly bland. They have no interesting sauces, and anything spicy tastes like it’s doused in mayo. Compared to the other places I’ve been in Niagara region for sushi, this is one of the worst.
I’m glad I tried it, because I’ve wanted to since the day I moved to Niagara years ago. But I also will not be back. And to those of you who think this is top top notch sushi, I would highly encourage you to try other places...
Read moreEverything was fantastic. Staff was great, and the food was so fresh. I really enjoyed the food here. Can not say enough good things about the food quality and preparation. Everything was clean (did not use bathroom) but food took a long time to serve after ordering because the kitchen is insanely busy with takeout orders. The only reason for 4 star is because the dining room size and layout. There are few tables to be able to dine in, and there is constant foot traffic in and out due to take out orders. I found it kind of awkward to eat in, due to table arrangement, because my chair was in the way of the server walking around and the customers standing at entrance waiting for orders. Also listening to the phone ring off the hook was very annoying! I was hangry when I arrived so I am sure this can account for little things being annoying, especially waiting for food. But still overall, I enjoyed the meal and would likely visit again. I did not take pics of dining room for privacy reasons because there was too many people to...
Read moreI took a trip to Japan in 2024 and since then I have been on a sushi / ramen exploration in Niagara. I have to say Danny's is my hands down go to spot.
The menu is smaller which would normally be a negative but it would seem that he refuses to fall for the old adage that more is better but here it's rather quality over quantity i that matters at this restaurant.
The sushi is consistently outstanding but this isn't my sole reason for coming back to this place, but rather the overwhelmingly friendly experience created by staff and Danny himself in conjunction with their amazing sushi.
I can't say enough about this place and if you try it, you definitely won't be disappointed. And if you're wondering who Danny is it will only take you a few minutes to realize as he makes himself very well known and in turn he makes you very welcomed in...
