I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. If you are truly Nigerian or Ghanaian, I strongly advise against ordering here. From the start, the service was poor. The staff was unwelcoming over the phone, our call was disconnected, and when reconnected, we were told to wait 15 minutes just to place an order. Delivery was promised within 55 minutes but ended up taking nearly 1 hour 30 minutes. Every single dish was disappointing. • Ordered Semo but received Banku. • The Suya and Jollof rice both had sugar, completely inauthentic. • The Jollof and Fried rice were also overcooked. • The Okra soup was bland and inedible. • The Plantain was burnt and tasted of char. • The Efo was inedible. • The Zobo was watered down, lacking both flavor and color. After waiting so long, we couldn’t eat the food and had to throw everything away. To make matters worse, they even took a photo of our order for their Google reviews which likely contributed to the delay. This was hands down the worst dining experience I’ve had. If this were the last Nigerian/Ghanaian restaurant on earth, I still wouldn’t return. Do not eat here. ———————————— Update: Owner responded: “Thanks for your feedback. We’re a fusion restaurant, so not everyone may enjoy the concept and that’s okay. Thanks for giving us a try. We appreciate you.” Instead of taking accountability, the owner chose to deflect. This was not an issue of “fusion.” It was poor service, incorrect items, excessive delays, and inauthentic food (sugar in suya and jollof, wrong substitutions, burnt plantain, etc.). Nothing about that reflects Nigerian or Ghanaian cuisine, fusion or otherwise. After waiting over an hour and a half, the food was inedible and had to be thrown away.

Partner and I visited twice yesterday. Initially for about 15 minutes around 4 PM, and an hour later for about 30 minutes to pick up ordered entrees. Host at front desk was quite cordial and welcoming and would rate excellent. Decor was satisfactory but the food infusion on clothes is on the very strong side smellwise, the exhaust fan in the kitchen might need some major tweaking, same with the speed of service. Rice and stew entree we gave to the front desk at the hotel as it didn't quite go as planned with the protein preference. The host did apologize after the fact as they had a large event earlier in the day that had an impact on kitchen operations and did what we presume she could in her capacity ... stuff happens and host seemed sincerely sorry. The second entree did not meet the mark on the protein side as well from the looks of it and is literally sitting untouched in the hotel fridge as of this review. Was really looking forward to a highly savory experience having driven over from the US side of Niagara to the Canuck side. Nevertheless, will give benefit of the doubt especially because of the host: She was real, personable and likely did what she could. Originally planned on dining at Mcuire yesterday and today but reluctantly ended up going to Skylon instead. Would love to visit at another time as we might end up with that savory experience we unfortunately missed out on this time around; you never know.

This was our first experience trying Nigerian/Ghanaian cuisine, and my son and I weren't sure what to expect. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were met with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, complete with traditional touches. The staff greeted us like family, making us feel right at home. The chef, who is both kind and passionate, reflects that warmth in her cooking. Beginning with the complimentary, refreshing hibiscus iced tea, each dish, prepared to order and infused with traditional spices, was a delightful journey through time, offering not only expertly crafted, flavorful cuisine but also an authentic connection to a rich and vibrant culture. We highly recommend MCUIRE to anyone seeking a truly unique and captivating dining experience. Tip: It's best to call ahead and place your order, so it's ready when you arrive. Also, when they say spicy, they mean it! If you're still building your spice tolerance, it's wise to start with a milder option.

Hey , so I have been coming to this restaurant a few months now , I’ve told lots of my friends about it . I’ve dined in with friends and I’ve dined in on my own , I’ve picked up orders to go .

Lately I’ve been noticing , that the egusi isn’t always fresh nor the same . She told me it’s always fresh over the phone . I asked for not spicy , and ended up getting spicy , when I picked up the order and brought it home it was chuncky and I even found glass in my meal , the fufu had balls in it .

This has only happend lately , there’s times when every thing is cooked fresh and fine and perfect and there’s times where it’s not the same in my experience, I can’t speak on others.

I was disappointed when I got home , and my meal wasn’t what I normally get , I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve complained before about the prices being different , when u order the sampler , she even realized that she gave us the wrong sampler and it was okay we let it go , another time my friend put an order in and she gave her a different price in the phone when I went to pick up her food , it was more then what she claimed was told on the phone.

iam an honest person and I don’t like to waste time to go back to make a big fuss and to complain so I never said anything until now , because it’s been to many incidents to ignore.

I’m not sure why there wore balls in the fufu maybe it was rushed , or why there wore 2 small pieces of glass in my egusi.

She’s a great chef and very sweet and polite , but I’m not that picky and I don’t know how there’s a soft pounded yam and a hard pounded yam in my meal this time .

If everything could be cooked exactly the same every time we would have no issues but lately my experience isn’t the best and i can’t tell if she’s just upset that I’m noticing things .

It almost seems like if u order of skip the dishes it’s better because at least you can request a refund . The glass in my food is a concern and I don’t know if something broke in the kitchen that day or if it was moved from a different dish but the egusi was not the normal egusi I normally love to enjoy from this place , hopefully she didn’t do that out of me complaining. But at this point my experience is not going as well as it was in the beginning.

Since I’ve referred other people I will also have them leave a review if they have any issues and if in the future they have a bad experience I will have them attach a photo . Hopefully it...

I need to preface with the fact that I am one of the most picky eaters out of all the people I've ever encountered. Like, I don't eat condiments kind of picky. Mcuire is the best food I've ever eaten. My partner and I are celebrating our ten-year wedding anniversary so we wanted to eat somewhere special, and we couldn't be happier with the place we picked. I've never had any african cuisine, so I had no expectations, yet the owner absolutely exceeded any expectation I could have had. Additionally, my partner and I ordered a very large assortment, which should have required a reservation, but the owner went above and beyond to make sure that we could be accomodated and showed so much love with the food prepared.

While I don't know if I will ever be back to this general area, I would travel far out of the way to return to this restaurant.

As for the food, we ordered the main tasting course: The chicken wasn't just perfect, it was divine. I am going to wake up in a cold sweat some day soon because I will have dreamt of it despite knowing it is far away. The beef suya is what I actually want when I visit BBQ restaurants and didn't realize it until today. The puffs made me audibly gasp, embarrassing my partner, and I have no shame for that. The Jollof rice tasted like it was a secret recipe passed down for generations, once again it was perfect like everything else. The ice cream was brought out with an adorable presentation and of course the ice cream was fantastic too, a great way to finish the meal.

Oh, and we were welcomed with this excellent hibiscus ginger and berry juice! Loved it! I can say with certainty that the owner of this restaurant cares more about the dining experience than any other restaurant I've been to, and I feel blessed to have...
