We ( my mother, my daughter, and myself) drove all the way from Markham, Ontario just to have mother's Day brunch at Gibbo's Carribean Cuisine!! And it was a drive well spent.
Let's start with the reasons we drove all that way...THE FOOD, THE PEOPLE and THE ATMOSPHERE!!
THE FOOD: As you can see from the menu, there is no lack of options of all very delicious, flavorful appetizers, meals, drinks, and desserts.
My mother and I had the very delicius jerk chicken Rasta pasta! It was a very generous portion, flavorful, with just right level of spice..not too hot and too mild. The only feedback that I shared with the owners, was that it was a tad bit oily, even though it really didn't change the fact that I fully enjoyed it!
The kid menu was a great alternative for their young palettes. My 13 year old daughter said she really enjoyed her lunch, and I noticed that her cousins who also came down from Toronto with their parents, also cleaned their plates.
THE ATMOSPHERE: Let's start with that red phone both entrance! There's one word that comes to mind when I reflect on my first impression...and that's nostalgia. Without aging myself, phone booths remind me of the good old days, simpler times, and that's how I felt when I entered the restaurant . The atmosphere is very welcoming, with bright natural lighting, clean surfaces, and comfortable group/family seatings inside and out. But the most memorable part of the atmosphere, was the people.
THE PEOPLE: The people is not only the staff, but also the patrons. The time I spent at this restaurant was like like spending time with friends. The staff is very friendly and outgoing, and the other patrons seemed just as relaxed and welcomed as I felt. It was a nice vibe. Lots of laughter, conversations, even some singing and dancing to the live band outside and the Dj inside.
In short, I recommend Gibbo's Carribean Cuisine for great food at reasonable prices, great vibes and atmosphere, and it's...
Read moreWe were looking for some Caribbean food and had heard about Gibbos. To say we received a warm welcome would be an understatement!
The energy and service - on point and then the food! I felt like I was back in the Caribbean in terms of taste! I enjoyed my meal!!! The serving size was so good, I could eat 2x and be full each time (I don’t typically eat a lot in one serving)! I was pleased and we’ve been back many times.
The outdoors space is great and I look forward to whatever events they will host there in the Summer. I have to add that the Rum Punch that Kay makes - it is fireeee! Get yourself one or maybe even two!!! ☺️
If you are in the Niagara Falls area, check out Gibbos, you will...
Read morei barely ever leave reviews, but my boyfriend and i have been really skeptical about eating out at the Jamaican food in niagara because we’ve had some questionable experiences but i can tell you rn, as someone who doesn’t get my food from just anywhere, THIS FOOD IS SOOOO GOOD. i got the rasta pasta and my boyfriend got the jerk chicken with rice and peas. the food was fresh, hot, perfectly seasoned and super flavourful. the pasta wasn’t shy with the seasoning or the shrimp, which was very big and filling, and the jerk chicken was super smoky, perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection. hidden gem is an understatement and the people were...
