May's Asian Cuisine — Restaurant in North Cowichan

New in town and sadly didn’t read the reviews. We popped in to grab dinner for the family. Should have turned around and walked out. Grabbed a selection of things. Wasn’t too impressed by the look of the food but was hopeful. As we walked out I looked in the kitchen. It was pretty grimey. Immediately started second guessing. We got home and started plating the food. The chicken balls were made with old chicken. You can tell it’s been cooked twice. They just battered it and fried it again. Ordered this on dd and two were to have noodles in them. This is the amount of noodles. My dish had breaded chicken. I ate two small pieces. The chop suey was 2 pieces of broccoli a carrot and an onion and two pieces of beef shoved under the honey garlic pork

Yes it was about 45 min to closing. They did not contact to tell us they were pretty much out of stuff so they filled our things with honey garlic beef mostly. They don’t understand proportions either. It’s a three piece combo not just mostly honey garlic pork. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Veggies cut too large, a bit on the soggy side, flavour overall mediocre. But obviously this is not a 5 star place so we weren't disappointed at all. The store reeked of bleach hovering over food smell. On a Saturday night 7 pm it was empty and loomed ready to close. There was no rice left. What ?!!! It will do the trick when you're hungry and quickly want some food and I believe this is all this place intends to be. Portions aren't skimpy but then again neither are the prices.
