The Gull, nestled just above the Shipyards district in North Shore, boasts a charming nautical-inspired decor. The restaurant is narrow and elongated, with a decent-sized patio in the back, making it a great spot for both indoor and outdoor dining. The space has a laid-back, neighborhood vibe, complemented by a striking chalk mural on the wall that adds a unique touch to the ambiance. Their cocktail menu is extensive and offers creative takes on classic drinks. I tried the Green Card and the Smooth Operator, both of which were fun and flavorful. Of the two, I preferred the Smooth Operator, which features Spiced Absolut Vodka, Baileys, Licor 43, lemon, and orange – a smooth, slightly sweet mix that hit the right notes. For our meal, we began with the beef carpaccio and pork belly nugz, both of which were tasty, but the bites could have used more heat. I opted for the pasta special with cod and shrimp, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. The pasta felt under seasoned and lacked the depth of flavour I was hoping for. My son, however, ordered the Animal Style burger, which we both ended up liking. After trying a bite, I have to say the burger was far more satisfying than my pasta. It’s clear that The Gull excels in crafting incredible burgers, and perhaps pasta isn’t their strong suit. Then again, I don’t think the restaurant is a pasta joint. The bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable and skilled, delivering well-crafted cocktails. If you're looking for a lively spot with great drinks, food, and a fun vibe, The Gull definitely delivers.

I'm a dinosaur so I've been going to the "Gull/Rusty Gull" since its inception (1985 ?) The food and the mood have always been good However, time has passed and it seemed like a fresh beginning was in order, and that's just what they did "The Gull" as they call it now finished its Reno's and was now open for business I read somewhere there was a new menu and that the burgers were amazing (I'm a burger guy) Once every 6 weeks or so my boss and I try a new burger joint or pub and the Gull was next We were the first customers in that morning, we were warmly welcomed with ice water and the new menu There were only 3 burgers on the menu so I decided upon the "Animal Style" (Lettuce, tomato, American cheese, pickles, and burger sauce, my boss ordered the "Gull Style" (caramelized onions, brie, pickles, pickle mustard) Simple, the menus is simple and the burgers are simple but amazing, clean, quality ingredients and properly cooked, I have to say The Gull burgers are in my top 5 burgers and I've had a few the last item on the burgers and sandwiches list is the crispy chicken sandwich which I'll have to ravage another time by the time we paid up the top half of the pub was full, the lunch crowd had heard the good rumours of the lunch and showed up so...thumbs up for the Gull burgers I've already made plans to go in next week to try out the Pasta and the Pork Belly Nugz bottoms up y'all Michael Arnold Picture courtesy of (Hanna McLean/Daily Hive)

A friend of mine suggested this place and as soon as I looked at the menu I had to try it! We walked in without a reservation on a Friday night so we had to wait awhile (and the hostess was so nice and helpful about it!) but honestly, it was so worth the wait. The pork belly nugs were tasty and so melt-in-your-mouth tender, and I'm not usually a fan of kale salads but theirs has a dressing that's so delicious. The beef carpaccio was actually what I came for and I feel like you can't really go wrong with this one. Their weekly cocktail was pretty noteworthy as well. I'm not a fan of bourbon and I can't remember what else was in there besides cassis--maybe lemon? Cucumber? But it was so refreshing! Everyone in our party got a burger, and I seriously think this was the highlight of the meal. If you can handle heat, get their SPICY fries--so tasty! We balanced these with some regular fries which were also good. But I got the Gull Burger and honestly I think if I ever have a burger craving I'm always going to want one of these. You get the texture and flavour of some whole grain mustard in there, and I love brie. It was so melty but the burger tasted so juicy and fresh. Can't wait to come back here :)

It's been a long time since I've been made to feel so unwelcome at a bar before. Came in late after my work shift just before 8PM on a workday. Place was relatively busy but that didn't stop two waitresses and the bartender from chatting it up at the POS system every chance they got. Despite being seated right next to the POS system, I had to introduce myself and state that I was a customer. After being asked how I was doing, I then had to request a menu because somehow "I am a customer who would like to order food & a drink" wasn't on the nose enough, and I was further left to sit without a menu, or water.

Drinks were average, food was pretty good. I enjoyed the burger I ordered. I ask a younger gentleman (barback or bartender in training?) if I could have my bill when he's free. He forgets the bill and presumably takes his lunch break because when I finally pay and get up to leave 15 minutes later, I see him exiting the kitchen while in mid-conversation with someone in the back.

Nice little hole in the wall with a great atmosphere, moderately priced cocktails and am interesting menu of food. Will not be returning however because I would hate to inconvenience the bartender & servers' super important conversations with my...
