Really had high hopes for this place. The cocktails my two friends and I ordered were all incredible. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there.
As we were ordering our appetizers- the scallops and the charcuterie- we asked our server how many scallops came on the plate, as it was $35 dollars. He told us there would be three but that they would be very large. We trusted his word and ordered. The drinks didn't arrive until the very moment that the food did.
The scallops were tiny. They weren't bad, but nothing to write home about, and certainly nothing id pay $35 for again. As for the charcuterie, one would expect a board with a decent variety of specialty cheeses from a place like this. We got standard deli meats and a measly pair of cheeses with only a small number of pieces of each.
Meanwhile, the server left our menus sitting on the table, ostensibly to let us pick our mains on our own time. However, he never came to see if we were ready to continue our order. Rather, he kept coming to check if we were ready to have the board taken away, despite there still being food left on it. When he finally remembered to take our menus off the table, I had to remind him that we were still waiting to order mains.
At this point, my friends and I were already considering leaving early and getting dinner elsewhere, but we decided to give it a chance. Twenty to thirty minutes later, we were still waiting for the food to arrive. We decided to cancel our order and asked for the bill. The server said it wasn't a problem, and that he just needed to inform the kitchen.
Instead, he returned with both the plates and a manager. The manager began to argue with us about the wait time for the food, all while holding the plates and talking over the food.
We were trying to remain polite and simply pay and leave, but it was becoming an extremely uncomfortable situation. I decided to communicate all the issues mentioned in this review to her, to which she replied that it was our responsibility to have informed her of these issues earlier. Look, we had come to enjoy a nice dinner and remain polite. We are not confrontational people.
In any case, the manager did offer to comp our food. We insisted on paying for what we had ate. We weren't looking for a free lunch. To her credit, she also offered to box up the mains for us, but we felt that doing so would be inappropriate and asked her to distribute the food amongst the staff to share. She then took another ten minutes to bring us the bill.
And that was our experience. I've tried to remain fair with the stars. The drinks are incredible and the place has a nice ambiance. However, the service is terrible and the food is overpriced and nothing special.
Total: $150 plus tip for 3 drinks, 2 apps, and one of the worst restuarant experiences my friends and I...
Read moreI wouldn't even rate Seasons a 1. I had a late lunch with my girlfriend on Sunday and I don't even know where to begin. Let's just say the entire experience from the get go was horrific and dealt with terribly by management.
When we arrived we were told to pick an available table. After we sat down we had a waitress that seemed to be intoxicated come up to us as asked what we wanted. We asked for a drink menu and she said they didn't have any drink menus. She laid down the menus and walked away. A few moments later another server approached our table, he asked what we were drinking. There was no drink menu provided so we had to ask about the drinks. We went with sangria.. which thankfully was the only good part of the experience.
We placed our food order. My friend ordered the best and pear salad and artichoke bites. I ordered just fries as I was hoping to enjoy patio time and drinks. The salad arrived and to say the least it was 15.00 + and it was the smallest salad I'd ever seen. It could fit into the palm of a hand. The beats and pears were very slimy almost tasted as if from a can. The salad was sauggy as if the dressing had been sitting on it all day.
We flagged down the waiter and replaced the salad with another side of fries. In the meantime we had the chef/manager come to the table with NO mask and started telling us his specials after we had already ordered and sent food back. He then asked my friend he nationality in the creepiest way and after she responded italian he said oh well you look very haspanic to me, and walked away.
Finally my fries and the artichoke bites arrived. Hoping it would redeem our so far experience it most definitely didn't. There was a gray hair fried into one of the artichoke bites and was spotted before even being able to try it. Once again we flagged over the server. We explained the situation and how un happy we were with the expirence. He said 'well I only work here' we asked him to take the food back, the manager over heard and said 'oh let me guess you don't like this either' In a sarcastic condensending tone. My friend explained and he didn't seem to care what we were saying.. he treated us as if we seemed to be the problem.
He then said finish your drinks and leave. When we said we would pay for our drinks, he responded im comping your meal and if you continue to complain I won't. We left in absolute awe and disappointment. I love to support local however I will never eat here again nor ever...
Read moreWe had our small intimidate wedding this past weekend at Ce Soir in Oakville. We came home from The Bahamas for the wedding and had guests from all over Canada, the US, the UK and The Bahamas in the Bistro Room.
I planned the wedding with Shayna, the extraordinary event planner onsite from March until this past wkd in June. She was very prompt and detailed in her responses. Super helpful and provided recommendations for best practices and ideas the entire way through. She was incredible professional in her communication, included context always and was super pleasant. I’ve planned events for my whole career and she is someone I would have loved to have had in my team!
She arranged for a tasting prior to the wedding and the food was awesome then and at the wedding! I have a very picky group of eaters and everyone was wow’d with the service, the quality and size of the food options and options and they were super accommodating with a mix of fruit and wedding cake and specialty desserts.
The bar in the room included some outstanding signature cocktails during our receptions, delicious canapés to start and wine and drinks throughout the whole evening.
The team lead by Shayna and Patrick on our wedding night was top tier. Very experienced and took all tasks off my hands the whole night. As an event planner this was odd for me but SO nice to let someone else take care of everything! My husband (the groom) doesn’t drink alcohol and Shayna walked up right before our toast with two glasses of bubbles, Prosecco for me and sparkling water for him, just one example of her excellence in attention to details.
The whole atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing, they were super agreeable and easy to work with the whole time and given my father is in a wheelchair, their attention and openness to accessibility was amazing! They had a ramp for him to get in and out and a wheelchair accessible washroom in the ground floor!
Without a doubt I’d recommend Ce Soir for cocktails, dinner or any special occasions for larger groups and would be happy to share my experience with anyone anytime looking for feedback on a great experience!
Thank you Shayna, Patrick and Team for an unforgettable wedding experience in your space!
PS they also have a great kids menu which was greatly appreciated for our flower girls and ring bearer who wouldn’t have wanted the adult menu! That...
