I recently had the unfortunate pleasure of dining at a restaurant that I can only describe as a culinary catastrophe. From start to finish, my meal was an unappetizing disaster, leaving me with a sour taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively.
the pasta, which arrived at my table with all the warmth of an iceberg. The dish was served cold. It was a sad, limp excuse for pasta.
Next came the eggplant, which was a complete letdown. The menu promised a succulent and tender vegetable, but what I received was a rubbery, undercooked mess.
As for the calamari, what was supposed to be a crispy and savory delight turned out to be a plate full of disappointment. Instead of the tender rings of calamari I was expecting, I was greeted with an overwhelming amount of fried vegetables. The calamari itself was practically nonexistent, buried under a mountain of bland and overcooked peppers and zucchini.
And then there was the pizza, or should I say, the tasteless cardboard that was presented to me. The crust lacked any semblance of flavor, resembling nothing more than a forgettable piece of bread.
To make matters worse, the ambience of the restaurant was equally underwhelming. We were seated upstairs. The atmosphere was dull and lifeless, with no effort put into creating a pleasant dining experience. The lighting was harsh, the decor was uninspired, and the overall vibe was one of indifference. It felt as if the staff couldn't be bothered to make any effort to create a welcoming environment for their guests.
In conclusion, my experience at this restaurant was an utter disaster from beginning to end. From the cold and tasteless pasta to the undercooked eggplant, the calamari that was mostly fried veggies, the flavorless pizza, and the dismal ambience, it was a complete letdown. I cannot recommend this piano piano to anyone seeking a satisfying meal or a pleasant dining experience. Save your money and...
Read morePiano Piano Oakville! 🤯😢 I have been to the Toronto location, great experience! Today, my two teen daughters and I stopped in for a quick lunch (March Break). This was impromptu, and as such, girls were in typical “teen” wear. We rarely have a bad dining experience. We walked in and the server that was going to seat us, tried everything to turn us away. I assured her that we would be in and out of the restaurant BUT she was concerned as 2:30pm the restaurant would be FULL! Take note - they close at 3pm (oddly at 2:30 they were FAR from full- I suspect profiling). She made sure by her actions to let us know we were not welcome. The girls ordered the lunch special, my daughter explained to her she would not like meat on her salad. Sure enough - meat was on the salad. 🤯. My daughter should have told the server immediately BUT she was uncomfortable with the server’s attitude and behaviour. My daughter while ordering, asked if I would have some of her pasta, I was not ordering as I was not hungry. The server immediately jumped in to say “NO SHARING!” Not even a nibble! Not allowed. Yet it is not written on the menu that there is NO SHARING ALLOWED. The table beside noticed and we chatted, laughed off the condescending attitude of the server, UNTIL they had an issue with their “RUBBERY EGGPLANT” same server asked why was it rubbery?!!! 🤩. The two men could not answer as they were not chefs. That is something the chef could answer, not patrons. On a good note - the pizza and the pasta were great! So, if you want to pay for food that is not prepared the way you order it and have a server that is condensing- please go to Piano Piano - just take it to go!! I did speak to the manager and she asked us to give them another try. Not sure why I would spend another $200 for lunch to be treated poorly. There are many restaurants in Oakville that are fabulous and value...
Read moreI’ve been to the Harbord St location many times and decided to have dinner at the Oakville location as I was there for Friday night jazz. Me and my partner ordered a pair of cocktails as well as the calamari, to be followed by the egg yolk ravioli and the canestri alla vodka. The calamari came out and it was up to standard other than the fact that it wasn’t served with a lemon wedge. The night really took a turn when 30 mins had gone by between being served the appetizer and our entrees were no where to be seen. I must add that the server had been avoiding our table this entire 30 mins, so I signalled her to come to our table and told her to cancel the canestri alla vodka as my partner was over-hungry from how long it had taken for the food (it was already past 10 at the point and we placed out orders at around 9:15). The server gave us a confused look but granted my request nonetheless. Now for the climax of the night. My favourite dish, the egg yolk pasta finally came out. What is supposed to be a light ravioli dish (which I’ve had multiple times at the Harbord st location) with the egg yolk spilling out as soon as you cut into it. The dish was served, and with the room we were in being dimly lit, it looked fine. The bread that I use to soak up the yolk after I cut into the ravioli was stale and all crunch. The type that could potentially tear up your gums. I cut into the ravioli hoping it would salvage the night. Overcooked yolk! The disappointment I felt I can still channel in while typing out this review. One bite from both me and my partner and we simply called for our server, asked for the bill and left. Terrible experience from a restaurant that I hold near and dear to me. This was my first and last time visiting the Oakville location but I am not reluctant to visit the Toronto locations again, just not too...
