I really loved Mo’s until last Sunday around 1:30.
I went with two friends and we had a really bad experience with the rude waitress that was there. I don’t have her name, but she was clearly in a rush, we saw the menu and we had a couple of questions, when she came I told her that we haven’t decided yet because we had a couple of questions, she said try to decide and I’ll come back after, so how come we will make a decision if we need to ask questions? When she came back, again in a rush, I looked at her and I asked very respectfully “are we allowed to ask you questions? So I think she noticed she was being mean and told me yes, you can ask questions, they weren’t many because 2 of the things that we wanted to have weren’t available.
The food was good, nothing to say about that, that is why we went there.
When we were eating, she crossed our table to pick the box with sugar and other stuff, uncomfortable, not even at home people do that, is disrespectful to do it while we were eating.
When we paid our bills, my friend (who doesn’t speak too much English) by mistake paid the bill without the tip, she just pressed the bottoms but didn’t noticed, when the waiter saw the bill she was upset and very rudely again returned the machine and told her “you have to pay the tip” my friend didn’t understand and asked me what she meant and I explained her, she said oh it’s okay sorry it was a mistake, but the waiter told us that everyone has to pay the tip, okay, so none of us were planning to don’t pay the tip, but as I understand, in Canada pay for the tip is NOT mandatory, the waiter cannot just push you to pay for it, is something respectful and polite to do, but is NOT mandatory, anyway my friend wanted to pay for the tip, you know how much the waiter charged her? Almost 6 dollars, when my friend just spent 30 dollars in her food, so how come? She charged her the 20%??
Even though my friend wanted to pay, because again, she made a mistake and when we explained her she was open to pay for her tip. I think this situation was very convenient for her, even though her service didn’t deserve even 10% of tip for everything that I shared before.
It’s understandable that you are busy guys, and I was hesitant about writing this review, but people choose to go to eat at your place because is good in general, don’t loose your clients because of this kind of things. We won’t come back and I hope you can have a conversation with your staff, I hope this was her having only a bad day and this...
Read moreBeen a loyal customer at Mo’s for over 15 years, but after my recent experience, I’m incredibly disappointed and frustrated. I ordered two meals: the today’s special and a fettuccine pasta knowing Mo’s portion sizes. But, when the food arrived, we were served two orders of the today’s special and the fettuccine pasta, a total of three dishes. I politely brought this to our waitress’s attention when we got the today’s special, but instead of addressing the mistake, she insisted it was our fault. She claimed we were at fault for eating the Caesar salad that came before the meal, suggesting that we should’ve said something sooner.
What was even more upsetting was how she handled the situation. She continuously gaslighted me, insisting that someone in my party had said and wanted and ordered both specials, which was completely untrue. I clearly remember saying “just those two” for the today’s special and the fettuccine pasta clearly since I was the only one who talked and ordered the menus. Her dismissive attitude made things worse—when I wanted to speak to her and express our frustration, she referred to the mix-up as a “dumb accident,” and refused to give her name when I asked for her name to talk to her manager saying, “they know who I am.” This level of unprofessionalism and rudeness is shocking, especially for a place we’ve loved for years.
That being said, I want to thank the manager who handled the situation differently. Unlike the waitress, “Nicole”, the manager understood our concern, apologized sincerely, and made sure we felt heard.
Our family has always enjoyed Mo’s, but this experience with your staff—particularly “Nicole,” who refused to take any responsibility—has left a bad impression. We didn’t receive the basic courtesy of an apology or any accountability for the mistake. Sadly, after this incident, we’re reconsidering our loyalty to a place we’ve frequented for...
Read moreMo’s family restaurant used to be one of our family go-to restaurants. The portions were always out of sight, which is one of the things that was always really fun to bring new family and friends to experience… You would literally see their eyes pop out of their head when they’d see the portion of food placed in front of them. Now I have to admit we haven’t been back for some time (it may have been a year), but we paid a visit today and I have to say I was terribly disappointed. some of the tables had not been bussed, and there was a paper napkin ring holder on the floor by our table, (nobody cleaned up while we were there dining). I ordered the Mediterranean chicken wrap and it used to be the size of a football and now it’s just more like a regular sized wrap (I could get something similar at Tim Hortons), moreover the way they serve it isn’t very appealing or thoughtful. It was an oversized plate with the two wrap halves on it. They served my side separately, in fact they served it to me before my meal, which was the wrap on a separate side plate, which really I guess was fine, a little unusual but OK. It was a poutine, but the cheese curds were moldy the quality and care of presentation has gone grossly downhill and it was so disappointing. Our server was great, in fact, she was probably the highlight of the evening and certainly doing the best with what she had and she was quick to react when I showed her that the cheese was moldy (as you could see the green fuzz on it), but I’m disappointed that the kitchen staff would serve that. It’s an indication that they’re not taking inventory or properly dating their products or maybe it’s improper storage. I’m not sure? I don’t know what happened to this restaurant, but I have to be honest. I...
