I went there with my wife and daughter and her boyfriend today 26th December 2018 who were visiting from out of town. I have been a very regular visitor to Archie's in Wharncliffe Road London for many many years. My family were having our meal when out of the corner of my eye I saw a bug crawling on the woodwork in the booth we were seated in. I waited to see what the bug was going to do and it turned out the bloody bug was a COCKROACH. My daughters boyfriend also spotted it and we both looked at each other and said nothing to my wife and my daughter. We slowly tried to move away when my wife noticed the bug. My wife didn't say anything but slowly started to move out of our booth. We told the server and she quickly went and got the manager who was on shift. She quickly moved us out to the booth and moved us to another part of the restaurant. If my wife had found out that this bug was a COCKROACH she would have screamed the bloody restaurant down. I intentionally didn't say anything to her as I knew this would have happened. After being moved we quickly got our belongings together as we did not not want to be in Archie's anymore. I went and spoke to manager on duty and all she said was that she would contact the local pest control. I told her I knew it was a COCKROACH and that I would be contacting Middlesex London Health Unit on the 2nd January when it opens after the Christmas break. I paid $110 for this and also the terrible service and a terrible explanation from a manager about COCKROACHES in the restaurant. This was Archie's fish and chip restaurant in Wharncliffe Road, London, Ontario. I will never visit any of these restaurants...
Read moreI recently visited Archie's Fish & Chips on Warncliffe Road in London, Ontario, and it was a delightful experience. The restaurant offers a casual and inviting atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a classic meal of fish and chips.
The fish was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and tender and flaky on the inside. The batter was light and not overly greasy, which allowed the quality of the fish to shine through. I opted for the traditional cod, which was fresh and flavorful.
The chips were equally impressive. They were golden and crispy on the outside while being soft and fluffy on the inside. The portion size was generous, ensuring a satisfying meal. They also offer a variety of dipping sauces, with the classic tartar sauce being my favorite—it was creamy and tangy, complementing the fish perfectly.
The service at Archie's was excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient, making sure that my order was taken promptly and that everything was to my liking. The overall cleanliness and casual vibe of the restaurant added to the enjoyable dining experience.
In addition to their fish and chips, the menu offers a variety of other seafood options, as well as some non-seafood items, catering to different tastes and preferences.
Overall, Archie's Fish & Chips on Warncliffe Road is a fantastic spot for a delicious and satisfying meal. The quality of the food, the friendly service, and the relaxed atmosphere make it a great choice for anyone craving classic fish and chips in...
Read moreDear Reader, Archie's holds a special place in my heart, as it has been a cherished spot since my childhood. Visiting with my grandparents created treasured memories filled with laughter and delicious food. As I revisited Archie's recently, the nostalgia flooded back, but so did some concerns about the culinary experience.
The food at Archie's remains delicious, much like I remembered. Portion sizes are still generous, often leaving enough for delightful leftovers (but unlikely - you'll have fries ... But - fish is always 1 serving). However, as a discerning diner, I couldn't help but notice areas that could use improvement.
One aspect that stood out was the oil used in cooking. While the flavors were still there, a slight change in oil could elevate the dishes to new heights. The fries, in particular, seemed to soak up the oil, affecting their texture and overall appeal.
In the world of gastronomy, attention to detail is paramount. Archie's, while delivering tasty meals, could benefit from a closer look at oil quality and its impact on the final presentation. Additionally, ensuring portion sizes are consistent reinforces the value and satisfaction for diners.
Despite these observations (solely based on two recent experiences of take out), Archie's remains a nostalgic gem, a place where memories are made and flavours cherished!!!! With a few tweaks, it could continue to be a beloved culinary destination for...
