June 2024 Edit: Had a reservation on the patio, but the weather called for rain. The staff called me ahead of time and moved my reservation inside to accommodate our group of 4. My wife has a hearing issue. Upon arriving, the table was in the centre of the room, which would essentially eliminate her ability to participate in any conversations. Before I could approach Hoag, the owner on site that night, to ask for help, he had already noticed the discomfort on my partner's face, and quickly offered two different tables from which she could choose. He didn't even know what the issue was. He simply recognized that there was one. I cannot say enough about the excellent care and service we continually receive at the OSVP, even though we only eat there about once a month.

Original Post: This place has always had a great patio, a decent beer list, and an amazing atmosphere, but under the new ownership (they've owned it about a year now), the food is fantastic. The one complaint we always had with the OSVP was the food, but that has been more than taken care of. The wood-fired pizzas are amazing, and the apps we've tried are equally delicious. Plus, they still have a great patio, atmosphere, and a good selection of beer. Will be back regularly now.

First Edit: Was back again today. Third pizza tested from their menu, equally delicious to the previous two we've tried, AND the nachos (picture) are loaded, and multi-layered, so you don't run out of toppings once the top layer of...

My review posted 4 years ago:

Cozy atmosphere, kind staff. Love going in the summer and enjoying the patio or during colder months and sitting by the fireplace. Booths near the window can be cold in the winter, just be advised. Perfect little comfortable spot to enjoy cocktails, beer, wine (by the glass or by the bottle), and a meal or an app.

My review now, March 2025: My 3 most recent visits to the Old South Village Pub is nothing like my experiences in years’ past. Unfortunately one visit there was a problem with fruit flies, many in my wine glass that I had to fish out. The menu has changed, and the prices have skyrocketed. I understand that is the nature of things a lot of places these days, but I mean you’re probably looking at $25+ for a single meal (think wrap and fries), plus tax, drink(s), tips, etc. On my most recent visit the service was abysmal but that is atypical, in my experience over the years.

I won’t change my 5 star rating at this time. I have enjoyed many glasses and bottles of wines with friends by the fireplace, on the patio, and in a cozy booth, I have enjoyed meals and appetizers, too, over the years. Any interaction I have had with the owner at the other London restaurant he owns has been quite pleasant. This restaurant remains near and dear to me and I will continue...

Stopped by for the first time to catch up with a friend I hadn’t seen in over a year. The staff were really friendly and our drinks came out fairly quick. I got the Pink Coconut Mojito which I strongly wouldn’t recommend, it kept separating and just was not a good mix. On the other hand, my friend got the Long Island and it was pretty good!!

We then ended up waiting over an hour and 15 minutes for our food, which was surprising since it wasn’t that busy. Our server did apologize and offered extra fries, but our plates already came with plenty so we didn’t want to have food go to waste. The food itself was decent, but nothing special, and $24 for a sandwich and fries felt a bit much.

On top of that the drink was $12 and considering I only had a few sips before I asked for it to be taken away, I was surprised to still be charged for it. I probably should’ve spoken up for myself but felt a bit uncomfortable taking advantage of their mistake and kind of expected that as a courtesy from them but oh well!

Overall, while the staff were nice, the long wait, disappointing drink, and high prices ($40 total) I wouldn’t recommend this spot based on my visit. Maybe it was just an off day, but I’d probably try somewhere else next time, as my friend did also warn me she hadn’t experienced the best service...

Went to The Old South Village Pub for New Years eve dinner. They were able to accommodate us with no reservations which was amazing after trying a few other spots beforehand with no luck. I ordered a OSP lager which is their house beer. Pretty good and apparently brewed by Moosehead specially for them. The g.f. ordered an apple cider spritz and said it was tasty but a lot of ice. We ordered appetizers to start. I got the beet tartar which was good but also disappointing because I thought I was ordering beef tartar (guess I should read better lol) still good for an unexpected surprise. The g.f. ordered the potato medalians and was a big fan. We both got burgers for mains. I went with the jalapeños popper burger which was excellent. I got the fries for a side and they were delicious. Also ordered gravy on the side which was great but the portion could have been a little bigger to match the portion of the fries. The g.f. got the pub burger with cheese and Caesar salad. She enjoyed it. The service was great and the atmosphere was cozy. I would return to OSP again in the future.

I recently took my girlfriend to the Old South Village Pub on a recommendation and we both absolutely loved our time being there. The service was excellent as the people who work here actually care about giving their customers a memorable experience. I mainly stuck to drinking beer but my girlfriend experimented with some of the beverages available. I had a few sips of whatever drinks she got, and let me tell you; they were delicious. The beer is cold, the drinks are tasty, but the food is the highlight. We both ordered the jalapeño popper burger. I was going to order a salad or fries with it, but then we found out the soup for the day was jalapeño cheddar and bacon, so I had to pair jalapeño with jalapeño. It was absolutely phenomenal. Old South Pub has become a personal favourite spot of mine. My girlfriend and I plan on being back very soon. Thanks guys!
