We left 2 hours ago and still comfortably full. The Sweet Onion Bistro was an opulent, sophisticated dining experience we wont forget. Helen, our hostess was intelligent, articulate and professional. Helen was very attentive to all tables and no one went without or had to wait. The beer batter fish and chips and Ruben were our featured meals. We finished with a generous piece of Chocolate Ganache which was prepare by Nikki..Master Chef/Manger apprentisian extraordinaire. The photo I took gives a good idea on how thick, rich and decadent this masterpiece is and the scoring of pure dark semi sweet chocolate really is to die for. The restrooms are emaculate...you know I must have cleanliness..MUST HAVE! The Sweet Onion Bistro is family friendly with high chairs and kids menu. Sit by the fire place and warm up. Reservations are also accepted, so you know that lunch spot is yours forsure and opens at high noon. Helen's service and Mz Nikki's artistian touch preparing our Ganache was a highlight of our visit..im sure chef Ramsey would have been proud. My friend Jane and I will make the Sweet Onion Bistro our intimate get away spot for regal dining from now on. Luv Malcom💪😎💚Stay strong London.

A truly unique experience each time. Front of the house staff is always a delight, bringing smiles and laughter to your table, alongside your yummy food and a great selection of craft breweries on tap. Back of the house offers great takes on classics like the vegetarian eggplant parmigiana (they’re great at accommodating dietary restrictions), a chicken & bacon burger that’s to die for, & switching up their “Pasta of the day” to bring you new flavours each visit. They also offer authentic Greek food like the flaming cheese Saganaki, chicken/pork souvlaki, chicken pita which comes with Greek salad, fresh cut fries & housemade tzatziki complementing the pita and many other dishes like the calamari. This locally owned restaurant that’s highly established and well regarded in the Village is a can’t miss if you’re in London, it’s a gem of a place!

Saturday evening, on the last cold day of May, Cleopatra owner of the Sweet Onion re-worked the dining room to accommodate our group of 14. Our efficient, knowledgeable and charming waiter, Isaac. continued the magic and kept us happy and smiling. We all seemed to have ordered exactly what we wanted, from chicken souvlaki to bowls to eggplant parmigiana. The atmosphere was excellent, more Canadian than Greek until the several people celebrating birthdays were given empty plates to smash safely on the foyer floor. Nearly 3 hours of great food and drinks, reasonably priced in an unpretentious room on Wortley Road. I'm sure the patio will be enjoyed this summer. Cleopatra made a point of visiting our long central table throughout the evening.

Restaurant was extremely hot (no air conditioning and inadequate fans) and noisy. Church pews are more comfortable than the booth bench at which we were seated. Without advance warning we were made to wait about forty five minutes for our appetizer and an hour and a half for our entrées. We were made to move to a different table mid-way through our waiting process. Midway through the entrée portion of our meal two extra chairs were added to our table without explanation, blocking our way in and out. When I selected my first choice off of the small paper sheet menu I was told (without apology) that item had been discontinued. I ordered eggplant parmigiana which was described in the menu as being topped with roasted red peppers. My dish arrived without any roasted red peppers at all. It was definitely edible but pretty uninspiring. My husband's had worse luck with his entrée. He ordered seafood linguini in a wine cream sauce. The dish consisted of simply seafood, noodles and sauce (no vegetables). The mussels tasted off so my husband had to set them aside. The pasta sauce was the most flavourless I've ever tasted, absent of any rich flavours of cream or wine. The entrées were each close to twenty dollars so we expected more. At one point as we were eating and conversing, I realized the waitress was standing a few feet away at the bar, just staring at me while I talked, as if I were a television screen she was watching. I continued talking at first hoping it was momentary but she just kept on staring until I had to ask her whether she was waiting for us to ask for the bill. She simply said 'no'. Rude and creepy. We were told we could have complimentary dessert due to the amount of time we had been made to wait for our food, but we were brought just one dessert to share between the two of us. We will not be returning to...

My dining experience at The Sweet Onion Bistro was phenomenal. Being in Wortley Village and under the lights makes you feel warm and cozy, and adds to the experience. I was welcomed with great energy and received exceptional service. I admire the attention to detail from my server. I also had the pleasure of trying out their brand new menu! The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered an appetizer to start; lamb skewers with pita and tzatziki on the side, and a lamb burger with fries.

After trying the lamb burger, I think this is my new favourite item on the menu. It was soft, seasoned well, great portion, & cooked well. The Tzatziki was a great touch! I almost spoiled it with ketchup but it doesnt need it. The cheese was unexpected and i really enjoyed that. I also can't forget the crispy thick cut fries! Overall burger was delicious and very refreshing. My first lamb burger and definitely not my last. On a good day i would order a double patty haha!

The Skewers were super yummy! I enjoyed it a lot. The lemon on top makes it refreshing, as well with the fresh tzatziki on the side. I even put an extra wedge to squeeze on the burger. It was seasoned great, cooked well too. 6 is perfect and the quality of both are really good. The soft pita compliments it well too! Id like to try the skewers even maybe close to medium rare? I really enjoyed the skewers and think its a great addition to the menu! A perfect bite to start my appetite for my meal to come.

I left with a happy belly full and can't wait to come back! I...

Went there with my bridal party for a nice dinner after dress shopping. Ordered the Reuben with no sauerkraut. When it arrived, it had sauerkraut, I tried picking it off but it was shredded so very hard. I also noticed the meat was unbearably chewy/fatty. When the waiter came over, he asked how the food was and I told him there was sauerkraut. He apologized and said he could get me a new one, I kindly asked if I could switch to the fish and chips (really just switching the peice of fish for the sandwich). He said that was fine and it would be out asap as the rest of my party was already eating. Time keeps going by and he keeps coming back saying it’s almost ready, about 30 minutes total of waiting, my entire table was done eating. I was extremely upset and this was visible, he apologized and asked if I’d like it in a to go container as my table was done and I said yes. He said we can offer a free dessert…. Seriously? I waited this entire time to get my food in a to go container, my entire party already ate and finished their meals, and I’m still required to pay my entire bill. I didn’t want a dessert and said that but they said that’s all they could offer. Disgusting service, horrible experience all around. To top it all off, when I got my bill, I was charged for the Reuben instead of the fish. The Reuben is more expensive of course. Horrible way to treat customers. And of course I’m not a rude customer and I even tipped even though this was the worst dinner experience...
