This delightful family owned and run British tearoom features some of the hardest working and lovely people in the restaurant business. It's not uncommon to see one of them often take the time acknowledge, and at times chat with a loyal customer or new face, when time allows for it. Cosies make the BEST pot of tea (with you guessed it, a lovely tea cosy to keep it warm). The food arrived after the first cuppa, piping hot and fresh. I’m neither a mushroom nor a tomato guy, but both were prepared to perfection. The fried bread? Gorgeous. Bangers - splendid. And the black pudding was blacker than my effing soul, and equally delicious, if not moreso.
Afters, went for a 45 minute walk around Blockhouse Island and through the Railway Tunnel, circling back to pick up a couple of scones, clotted cream and jam. So. Good.
I see some low reviews complaining about slow service, or it being a cramped space. To them I’d recommend a McDonalds nearby; on top of having a drive-thru window, they’ll have the option to experience all of the charm and atmosphere to which they are so clearly accustomed, and well deserve.

My mother enjoyed the Cornish Pastry dish, while I had a roast beef sandwich, that was also quite tasty. There was ample salad with a good amount of dressing. My only "complaint" was the waitress never came to ask us how everything was, not even one time. Once our food arrived, that was all the contact we had. My sandwich also had margarine on the bread,, very disappointing. I would have preferred mayonnaise or nothing versus having to scrape off the margarine. Nonetheless this "hicup" did not ruin...
