Hardy park itself is beautiful but the increase in homeless people in the small city really shows almost anywhere you go, especially down town which Hardy park is off of. So don't put anything down that you own because you won't own it for long. There is a nice play structure for children and many trees with picnic tables to sit at in the summer and relax. There is a Beach volleyball net and a gazebo which are very nice but rarely used. There is a boat launch right off the side of Hardy Park but it isn't convenient for swimming as there are many boats there and the downward slope is slippery with miss. You can swim by jumping off the deck that skirts the park but that is only good if you aren't afraid of deep water and know how to swim. There are ladders strategically along the dock to get out of the water but it really is more of a get wet and get back out place. The trails are short and always filled with people in the summer months. In the summer months there are bathrooms available but the doors are locked any other time. Hardy park could be so much more than it is someone just has to put some effort into it and make it all...
Read moreProbably my second favourite park in Brockville along the river. It was formed in the early 60s ontop of former manufacturing grounds. A very beautiful park with some landscaping, flowerbeds & shrubs, big lofty shade trees, brick pathways & an old-fashioned gazebo. There are also several benches & many picnic tables, washrooms & a playground. Off to side is a boat ramp & walkway bridge across a little bay where ducks & geese like to mingle & catfish & carp sometimes wander. It's a popular spot for wedding photographs (mine included), as well as events like the former Riverfest & Teddybear Picnic when I was growing & currently for the Poutine Festival, Strawbeary Festival, Fairies in the Park, & Ribfest. In summer there are band concerts in the gazebo Sundays & Movies in the Park on Thursday evenings, yet I haven't watched...
Read moreA beautiful park right on the coast of the St Lawrence River in Brockville, Ontario. Hardy park is meticulously maintained. This park has a small play area with play structures and swings for the kids, There is a shelter with a roof for protection from the sun or rain, picnic tables, and washroom facilities. There are bocce courts here as well. There are trees, walking paths, and a boardwalk along the water. Benches all along the water provide a great place to relax and enjoy the view. If you feel like more activity, you can bring your canoe or kayak as there are boat launches on either side of the park. Back your small fishing boat into the water and fish offshore, or just cast your line off the boardwalk. There are festivals held here during the summer and it's a great place to take in the tall...
