Toronto | Hidden Rainbow Tunnel in Brockville! So Beautiful! π

The outer park around the railway tunnel is very nice and has many picture opportunities. The water is beautiful, and refreshing on a warm day although the best place to enter the water around the railway tunnel is huge slabs of algae covered cement that have left breaking holes between them. The little fence around the area makes it a good place to take your dog swimming but it is in use a lot so sometimes you have to wait a bit. The tunnel itself is a beautiful piece of history and a must see, but I really enjoyed the area around it the most. Come visit Block House in Brockville, but don't put anything you own down unattended as crime is high in the city currently but maybe if we get more tourists, people will start to work on our city as a whole.

July 2022 update. No admission. I simply love strolling they the tunnelβ¦.. walk thru historyβ¦. Watching the brick phase into stones with changing light Colorβs β¦β¦ and read every single panel of explanation along the way. The dripping water from the top and music in the background β¦.. it is simply entertaining and educational. Parking is free ( 2 hour complementary ) pretty much every where except near the marina area. I suggest park on streets to save the paying hassle if you prefer. Do also walk around water front. It is really pleasant and breezy!! If you come to Brockville , must go thru the tunnel and experience the history!!!!!

This site is definitely unique and has a lot of history behind how it was built and the purpose it was built for in the 1800s. It is an amazing architectural design railway tunnel that is built with rocks and parts that had to be blasted out in order to get through the rock. It's also amazing to see that water still drains down inside some sections of the tunnel as a natural environmental effect. They have a unique mini train to take you through the tunnel on a mini historical tour. Also, you can purchase tickets for the Brookville Aquarium, which is also within walking distance of the train tunnel.

A cozy distraction in Brockville from your east or west journey via Hwy 401. The tunnel is free of charge (although there is optimal donation box inside) and unattended (just cameras). Suggest that you bring a layer as it can get chilly inside. Good to learn the history and experience the railway by walking through it from either the south or north entrance (south is the main entrance where the waterfront is). π If you decide to enter through the north entrance (behind the Tim Hortons), there is no signage - just follow along the chain link fence!

Between the history behind this location and how the space has been repurposed as a way to get through town and a tourist destination, is a great example of keeping history alive. Congratulations to the city and the investment they made and the amazing volunteers who are the true backbone of this amazing experience. It was a beautiful walk on a very hot day, seemed like a 10Β° drop in the tunnel, the music and light show added to the experience, I saw so many faces peering out of the stones and dripping stalactites! Go see it!!
