If I could give the food and service a 0 star I definitely would. We go to Denny’s every week, as this is our favourite place. We always go to the one off division street but with that one under construction, we decided to come to this one. We got to the restaurant, got seated. We had to ask for crayons as the children were given their menus and got told they were out of crayons (try telling a 4 year old special needs child that”. We ordered our drinks, had to ask the server 3 times for straws for our drinks. She finally came over to get our food order, I carefully explained I have celiac disease so please be careful about cross contamination. She assured me she would let the kitchen know. We waited for our dinner, as it sat in the window in front of our server and I’m assuming the manager all smushed on one tray. picture above We waited for the manager to bring over our food, and right away I noticed the 4 plates were so squished together on the tray and seen my gluten free food touching my son’s plate full of gluten. I asked the manager “is our food touching?” And he goes “I don’t think so” while it was right in front of all our faces. I told him that is cross contamination and he offered to have it remade. My family was about half way done eating when he brought my food over, he reassured me that they wore gloves, cleaned the counters, and grill. I was a bit hesitant as there was a mushroom in my hash-browns, but idiotic me believed him. My son had to ask 4 times for his gravy, once from the manager. And still could not get it until he was mostly done his dinner. We finished our drinks, and the server didn’t come by again to check how the food was or if we needed more. I got the bill, and they tried charging me for a chicken tenders adult meal, not a child’s. I brought it up to the server, she told me she would fix it right away. Brought me back the same receipt, so had to go up front and ask the manager to change it.
Right after I left I realized I was glutened and they just lied to me about taking the precautions that they said they did.
If you have any allergies, or want good service go to the Denny’s off division street. This is the worst service EVER!! Never have I had this problem at the...
Read moreAvoid at all costs! This is not the Denny’s that anybody who grew up in Kingston will remember. This Denny’s is now under a new owner, he and His family now run it. Gone are all the faces that I remember from the last 20 years, experienced servers and cooks have been replaced by the new owners family members who clearly have no experience or understanding on how to work in a restaurant.
The restaurant is filthy, garbage all over the floor, they have one server, One waitress, and the manager comes and collects the food plates. He doesn’t say hello he doesn’t come around asking people how they’re doing like the original owner did, none of them smile.
The food was undercooked. I ordered a stack of pancakes and all I got was one. The pancake itself was cold like it had been preheated. My toast was dry and barely toasted. What little butter they had put on my toast was barely scratched into the bread. When I asked them to fix my order and give me a stack of pancakes to come back with one more pancake for a total of two. I didn’t bother trying to get the order fixed again. What was the point? I honestly don’t think my waitress even understood what I was asking him. Their menu is completely changed, and now they add their own food substitutes From their own country into well-known recipes. My friend ordered French bread, and he got it on some weird buns, at first we thought they were hamburger buns, but they were sort of like doughy cake.
No apology for the screw up in the orders, our waitress never came back to ask us if we needed anything else after the screw up. For us Sunday, it was dead, which was amazing considering that Denny’s was always notably busy on Sundays. There may have been 10 people in the restaurant.
Rude, inexperienced, filthy, poor food,...
Read moreSo yesterday we tried to celebrate Father's Day a bit early by going to this Denny's for dinner but things went downhill fast. The food and service turned out to be a total disaster. When we walked in we had to wait a bit before someone finally took us to a table. Even though there were only two tables being used it felt really weird because there seemed to be hardly any staff around. The food just sat there under the heat lamp. When we finally got to our seats things didn’t get any better. The floor was super sticky and a bunch of tables were still messy which made it feel like no one was taking care of the place.
Things got even tougher for us after we made our orders. Our food sat under the heat lamp way too long while our waitress chatted away with someone I guessed was the manager instead of taking care of us.
When our food finally got to the table my gravy looked really gross with lumps and was lukewarm. On top of that the hamburger buns we got were definitely old and stale which made the meal even more of a letdown.
Even going to the bathroom wasn't a break since the women's restroom was in really bad shape. This just added to the feeling that the place was dirty and not taken care of.
As if things couldn't get any worse, our waitress and the other employee seemed to vanish into thin air, leaving the manager to present us with our bill.
It was a Father's Day dinner that we'll remember for all the wrong reasons, and certainly not a place I would ever...
