Foodbasics Frontnac mall. Where prices are great as well as cleanliness. Unfortunately it stops well short for customer service.
It seems that cashiers are never on when people need them for those who wish to be cashed out by a cashier. On average when my fiance and I are in there is a line of 6-8 people deep on the customer service cash (only one open between 5-8pm).
Some of the front end employees make it apparent to all that they do not wish to be there working. There always seems to be a clique of employees around the customer service desk even though the cart Corral is full or there is a full line of people behind the only open cashier.
To me it just seems that the training is bare when dealing with the day to day things. We witnessed someone have their purse stolen and no one knew what to do or who to call. Seemed very odd. Also have had an attendant for self checkout eating lays chips while helping people out?!? I'm not asking for the best service ever just for some professionalism. When someone says thank you they say your welcome instead of walking way. I doubt a review will change any of this but figured it was a good first attempt from someone who works in the hospitality industry.
No doubt the owners or store managers know how to run their buisness but it would be good to have some time spent with the front end to enhance the...
Read moreI used to shop at the old location on Bath and it was very nice. Tonnes of space to shop and not run into people often, lots of stock of each item on the shelves and the parking lot was large enough for all the customers (partly being a larger strip mall location). However, now the store is very tightly packed isles, there never seems to be enough items for everyone during the day anymore, the parking lot is fairly small and constantly packed as there are other locations to go to now. The store seems understaffed again, in comparison to how much traffic it receives now. Another big issue is how small the self checkout corral is now. It wasn't particularly large at the old location but it was big enough for 3 small checkouts and 2 large ones where everyone could fit a single cart at max. This new one barely fits everyone with no carts and I myself am not a large person. My last complaint is the prices, which is more about the company than the location. How is it the the once cheap in-house brand is now as expensive as buying the name brand products? Cereal used to be 4.99 for name brand and about 2.99-3.99 store brand. Now it's 4.88 store brand and some whacky number of 5.74 for name brand! This company may be losing another customer soon if they don't step...
Read moreHave always been impressed with this store....sales are fantastic which keeps us coming back....very clean and organized and most of the staff are always accommodating and pleasant!!! However - had to lower our posting to 3 star as there's an old female cashier - employee #120; that really needs to have a serious attitude adjustment. The past 3 visits have been pretty bad, however most recently Jan 30th in the morning, we left Food Basics feeling thoroughly disgusted - like we were just assaulted. She's rude to customers - witnessed her pressing the button to make a ladies groceries pile up on her while she was trying to bag them as quickly as possible, instead of using the 2ndary belt to send the groceries to - which is what it's there for. And this nasty employee #120 smirked cuz she thought it was funny that she scared the older woman - Wow!!! She always seems to have an angry facial expression and is downright nasty - management take notice...
