Revisiting Chatham after 20-Plus Years last Summer and subsequently moving here this past November, I'd spotted the Greek Grill Restaurant, but it always appeared closed.
I recently discovered its hours of operation 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays with 3 to 8 p.m. during the weekend.
When you meet Chef Nick for the first time, you'd swear you were at Central Casting for EON Productions latest James Bond film. My wife & I chose to dine-in requesting Pork Souviaki Dinners and Greek Baklava Dessert.
The entire dinner checked-off all the must have flavours for traditional Greek Cuisine. Pork marvelously marinated, Roasted Potatoes basted in lemon and the Tzatziki Sauce freshly made with shredded cucumber & just the right amount of garlic.
Greek Baklava - phyllo dough had an exceptional filling mixture of Walnuts, Cinnamon & golden syrup.
While the large Greek Salad was missing the allowable three Black Olives as prescribed by the North American Olive Cartel, there were generous portions of top quality Feta Cheese & Purple Onion. A spot of Olive Oil & a little Oregano would have pushed it into...
Read moreFirst visit. We were excited based on the reviews. Kind of disappointing. Ordered spano (listed as an appy but served with fries) and gyro dinner. Salad was basic (two small chunks of tomato, a couple slices of cuke, on brownish lettuce and a nice lot of crumbled feta. Gyro pita was fresh and soft. Meat was okay but not warm, oddly included inside the wrap was about 6 french fries. Tzatziki was really garlicky, potatoes were soaked with oil and not hot through. Fries with spano were hot and tasty. Spano was different than most, baked, hot and tasted good. Food took quite awhile to make it to the table. We were the only people there on a Monday at lunch hour. Would have expected hospital staff or school next door to fill the place. Owner was nice, but could not handle the cash register. First bill was $11 (should have been around $31). We pointed it out. He cancelled and tried again, still not right but close enough! Menu is quite limited. I don't think we...
Read moreWe're advocates for supporting local businesses, which led us to try this restaurant, especially since we have a fondness for Mediterranean cuisine. Our anticipation, however, was met with disappointment. The dishes we were served lacked any distinctiveness. Despite being the sole patrons, we endured a wait of 70 minutes for our order. It was perplexing to see such a delay for items like French fries, which appeared to be sourced from frozen stock. Similarly, the gyro, rather than being authentically prepared from slices of meat, was a low-quality, frozen product made from ground beef and an assortment of heavily processed ingredients. Adding to our dismay was the clear impression that the owner is not well-versed in the essentials of running a restaurant. Unfortunately, our overall dining experience was far from...
