The restaurant is attached to the Days Inn Hotel. When I told her that we were using a WagJag certificate she told us what it was good for, (but omitted what deserts we could choose.) There was a really small selection to choose from. When my partner was not interested in what was on the entrée menu she asked if she could get a sandwich instead. Although the sandwich she wanted was less expensive, they were very strict on that we could only order from the specified options. I opted for the pepper steak with mashed potatoes which I really enjoyed. The potatoes were barely warm, and the gravy was definitely different as it had a hint of some sort of cinnamon flavour. Vegetables were not fresh, and were definitely made from a bag of mixed frozen vegetables you would get at the grocery store. Karen had an 8 oz. steak which she really did not enjoy. It was not cooked incorrectly; just not a great cut of meat and lacked flavour. Her baked potato did not even come with sour cream. Deserts were your average family stuff you could make at home. We wanted pie, but found out the only options were rice pudding and Jello. The rice pudding was cheap and didn’t even have any raisins in it. Overall, the experience was kind of expensive for the quality of food which was only average even with our discounted coupon. Service was ok, and our server constantly had to refer to the menu. For example when I asked if they had anything on tap, rather than say no she just said everything we have is...
Read moreWe have eaten here a couple of times with reasonable success however today was a different story.
I was in the company of somebody who suffers from celiac disease. We usually advice the kitchen of severe allergies and put in a special order for only bacon on the grill and not to have any contact with real or deep fry potatoes Etc.
When the breakfast arrived it was obvious the bacon was deep fried. My companion again said that he has celiac disease and even if the bacon touched his plate he would not be able to eat anything.
They took the plate away to fix it and afew minutes later when the food came back to him, it looked as though the tomatoes had not moved off the plate, but there was freshly grilled bacon. He proceeded to eat the food and we parted company.
15 minutes later my companion was all swollen up and having a severe reaction. He left the restaurant already so I went to the manager named Jack who proceeded to tell me that they changed all the food on tge plate for fresh, and pointed out that that he didn't have to do that. (He was just being niceI guess)He told me it was his prerogative to do that and then turned around and blamed the waitress for not having made a notation. There was never an apology for making my friend sick.
I let Jack know that he lost a lot of business today and I'm writing this review in hopes that other people will see this and not become sick if they have celiac disease or disappointed if you're looking for...
Read moreThe Knotty Pine Restaurant. It is wonderful place to eat. I have been there many times over years. At least a couple of decades now. Breakfast is my reason usually. I don't usually have breakfast or eat out at that time of day, but when I do, that's the place for me. True Consistency of food, service, and atmosphere. All 5 Stars. Those things are lacking in this era in a lot of places. I am glad once again this morning I was not disappointed. In fact I was extremely impressed with my server, Nora. Nora remembered me from months ago and that is so much an oddity considering this Restaurant is attached to the Days Inn. Hundreds or maybe thousands of guest are served. It had made my mornings of the past and this present morning again was extraordinary. I am sure you will have fantastic meals when you...
