As a loyal customer of this restaurant for a long time and personally introduced it to over 10–15 friends and colleagues. it’s genuinely upsetting to write this review. I’ve spoken highly of this place for years and even brought several Canadian colleagues here to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, the treatment I received during multiple visits especially from one staff member, Anjudha has left me completely disheartened.
During my birthday visit, I brought a group of Canadian coworkers and requested to sit at a particular table. The server, Anjudha, refused for no clear reason, even though the restaurant was not busy. What shocked me even more was that after we left, the table I had requested remained empty the entire time. That moment left me confused and embarrassed in front of my guests on my birthday, no less.
Fast forward to Thursday, September 4: I took another friend who had been wanting to try this place for a long time. Again, the restaurant was completely empty, and I politely asked if we could sit at a table near the mirror by the entrance. Again, Anjudha refused without explanation. It made me question why a paying customer, in an empty restaurant, can’t even choose where to sit especially when I’ve always shown support and respect as a regular.
Later I asked if it was possible for my friend being a first-time guest to try a complimentary dessert, something that has occasionally been offered to both regulars and new customers.
Her reaction was shocking. She responded rudely in front of my friend: “How many times will you get compliments? You already got one last time.”
If there was a policy in place, she could have simply said, “We only offer complimentary dessert once per client,” or “We’re not offering any today.” That would have been completely understandable
I felt completely insulted and embarrassed, especially after having recommended this place so highly.
I asked to speak to the manager and was told they had already left. I called the next day, and the same server answered the phone, claimed to be the manager, and again dismissed my concerns. I later went in person, calmly asked to speak with someone more senior, or at least a chef I knew. She refused again.
What happened next was the most disturbing part. While I was finally speaking to another staff member Siva, about the issue, Anjudha interrupted our conversation, mentioned my workplace by name, and said she would come there. When I asked her to repeat what she said, she tried to flip the story and claimed she just meant to come buy products but the comment felt inappropriate, uncomfortable, and borderline threatening. Even then, she continued to interrupt, and both she and Siva refused to share the manager’s contact or let me speak to another senior staff member. I left my number and was promised a call,
As a long-time supporter of this restaurant, who has introduced it to many of my friends, I never expected to be treated in such an unprofessional, dismissive, and frankly disrespectful manner.
To be clear I did not want to write this big review at all. I went out of my way to speak in person, give feedback directly, and avoid going public. But the way today’s conversation was handled left me no choice.
I would never recommend this place to anyone again. As much as I supported this restaurant over the years, I now feel taken for granted and frankly disrespected. Just because I speak same language doesn’t mean I deserve less respect as a paying customer. I don’t know if this is how they define customer service but this is certainly not how regulars or any customer...
Read moreI live nearby and have visited this restaurant a few times over the past few months. As someone from China, I don’t usually eat Indian food very often, but this place really surprised me — in a good way.
I especially recommend their naan (bread) — it might look very plain at first, but it’s incredibly fragrant and delicious. Another great dish is their braised lamb or lamb curry — it may be a little salty for some Chinese tastes, but it’s full of flavor and very satisfying.
One thing I really appreciate is that the food looks simple, but tastes much better than expected. It’s one of those places where the flavor surprises you in the best way.
The service is also quite good. They even use a robot to serve dishes, which is fun to see. Most of the time there’s a friendly Indian guy at the front, who I’ve spoken with a few times — he gives great recommendations and remembers returning customers, which makes it feel very welcoming.
One small downside is that the menu photos don’t always reflect the real dishes — some of them seem to be generic pictures from the internet, so it’s hard to know what you’re ordering just by looking. I suggest asking the staff for recommendations — it worked really well for me!
Overall, I think this is a great spot for Chinese diners (or anyone) who want to try Indian food for the first time. Don’t let the unfamiliar names stop you — the food here is absolutely...
Read moreWe ordered from Kothur on UberEats after seeing how great the reviews are and let me just say.. They are WELL deserved! 🤤 Our food came in a timely manner and was incredibly delicious.
Butter Chicken was full of chicken breast chunks and the sauce was bursting with flavor! I will say, compared to other places I found the sauce to be a bit thinner/runnier but it didn’t affect the taste at all! 9/10
Garlic Naan was soft and well buttered/oiled, no piece was burnt or dry which is really hard to come by with delivery I find! 9.5/10
Chicken Biryani had BONELESS CHICKEN! I was SO pleased to see that and of course it was very delicious! Perfect blend of spices, rice was very flavorful and chicken was tender. 9/10
Chicken Vindaloo was a first time for us and we will absolutely get it again! The potatoes soaked up a lot of flavor and the chicken was again highest quality with plenty in the dish! The sauce paired nicely with the steamed rice as well. 9.5/10
Veg Samosa was honestly my FAVORITE from any Indian cuisine place I’ve had anywhere in Ontario! They were packed with filling, not overly salty and had a nice crunchy outer layer! If nothing else, you have to try this as an appetizer! 10/10
Overall, everything was of high quality, well prepared and tasted fantastic. I would and will highly recommend this place to anyone in the London area! My only regret was not taking photos...
