I have been coming here since they opened. It’s close to home, convenient and fresh. In the past couple of months, I have noticed the quality decline, and inconsistencies. I typically order the trio poke bowl. Now, it’s different every time I order it. Missing ingredients. Sometimes hot sauce sometimes spicy mayo. They stopped shredding the cucumber and now put large slices. I never know if I am going to get the same product or quality of product when I order. At $21.50 + tax, I should be getting my moneys worth. Cost saving measures, I imagine. New staff members. It’s disappointing. I used to look forward to eating here.
Maki Sushi & Noodle is our favourite must stop sushi spot in Kingston and we must have tried at least six other sushi restaurants in the city. I’m guessing there may be more to try, but we haven’t really made an effort to look further after this little place opened its doors.
Though their menu is compact, you honestly won’t find better sushi in the city. I’m picky when it comes to sushi rice and how it’s cooked. Their rice is always perfect, the right temperature, flavour and texture. The ingredients are always fresh and the flavours are bang on. We’ve had all the maki specials short of chicken teriyaki (just not our thing). They’re all fantastic.
We’ve also had the udon. The broth and other ingredients are really good.
We had sushi at a top voted restaurant in Victoria, BC this spring and we all agreed it still didn’t compare to this little place. The only others that can compare are Sushi Sun in Gananoque and then an amazing larger restaurant called C’est Japon a Suisha in...

The Maki and Nigiri platter is also an excellent party tray- it has a great selection of different makis to satisfy any sushi-lover’s taste!
The service in-house is usually very good. The waiters tend to the table frequently enough to check in with diner satisfaction. The food arrives after a decent wait.
However, ordering via UberEats is usually a recipe for running late. It has always arrived late for me. I order from them quite frequently if I cannot go eat in-person, and I am always disappointed with how slow the preparation and delivery is to get the order out the door.
I would highly recommend eating in or ordering to-go at the restaurant to pick up yourself. Again-...
