Patriam — Restaurant in Ontario

Patriam is a delightful little gem tucked away from my usual daily activity route but is well worth the detour. It is cute. It is well decorated. You feel as if you are in a different city, let alone a parking lot, with the enclosed outdoor seating area.The coffee is delicious. I was not much of a coffee aficionado prior to going to Patriam, but now I actually care about this stuff and truly enjoy a good coffee. As a self proclaimed "cookie-aholic", I was initially disappointed that there were no chocolate chip cookie options at Patriam but that disappointment did not last long. The treats there are so unique and delicious. Don't even get me started on the savory biscuits... As for the sweets, I can never decide between the red velvet cookie sandwich or the zefir. I had not heard about this place until I asked on Reddit where great places in Kingston were to get a great espresso. I was able to stop in this morning and order an espresso. I was extremely happy with the espresso I had this morning. It was very balanced, with sour, sweet and bitter flavours. It is exactly what I was hoping for in an espresso. I sat in my truck and sipped on the wonderful espresso, savoring each sip. After glowing with delight in the wonderful cup I had, I headed back in to let the barista know how wonderful it was. She was very appreciative of my comments and noted that they get their beans locally from North Roast and try to source as many things locally as possible. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Even on my worst of mornings/days, I can walk in here and have that completely turned around. Amazing food and coffee? Check! Amazing service? Check! Amazing vibe? Check! Attention to detail? Check! It is my home away from home. Even if I walked in and the line was out the door, I would wait. Ksenia (owner) is amazing. She has a personality that sparkles and makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. She cares about you as a person and will take the time to listen while still making your order.
