I wish I could give less then 1 star. Worst experience I have ever encountered. (I am a event coordinator and have never been given such terrible experience in my last 5 years) I ordered a 2 tier cake for my mother in laws surprise party and the entire experience was appalling. We came to pick up the cake the morning of the party to be given a cake that was on a cake board and nothing else no box nothing and I was very admit on the phone that I needed a box because the cake was traveling from London to Woodstock and they assured me i would have a box to travel with. They reluctantly gave us a make shift box after I kept Insisting that I couldn't just put this in my car with nothing to protect it. I received no help out of the bakery with this large and awkward cake by the staff that a customer had to help me to my car. Once it was in my car I could tell it was done very poorly, the bottom tier was lopsided and you could see that the top tier was not on the cake flush and the icing was already starting to droop. While driving I noticed the top tier starting to slide (I already had a feeling this was going to happen considering the bottom tier was not flat and was cut on a diagonal) and that's when we discovered that the bakery used nothing to keep both tiers together (now I have order a lot of cakes in my line of work and I have ALWAYS had dowels holding the top tier to the bottom). because I was driving the sliding cake wasn't noticed until it was too late and the top tier got mushed by my hand catching it. we got the cake to the party had to try and "fixed" it ourselves because the bakery told me they do not make the cakes instore and it was commuted to the bakery just fine this morning so she doesn't understand how had a problem commuting the cake to Woodstock. This cake cost $135, it was dry no one wanted to eat it because it tasted old and the icing wasn't even buttercream after I had requested buttercream and had it confirmed three times. I will never be going back and I will not be recommending it to anyone of my clients for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been going to Nova Era for almost 5 years now. I typically go 6-10 times a year, sometimes more. I have never had an issue with the food or service. The food is actually really delicious. The problem....I ordered a bunch of desserts. When the woman helping me put my desserts at the front cash with the box open to see what I had to be billed for; a waitress came to the till and started coughing all over my order. At first I couldn't believe it, it was disgusting. Then after she finished coughing all over my food, she leaned over it on the counter and started to write stuff on the bills next to the till, also right beside my order. She was heavy breathing all over my food. I didn't know what to say at the moment. Do I say hey your waitress is coughing on my food, can I get a new order? Then i would have felt like I was causing a scene. I couldn't really believe how gross she was being. Instead I paid for my order, then actually contemplated throwing it out. I told my husband, and he said it was probably fine that standing up she hopefully didn't actually cough on the food itself. Not to waste the food and just not worry about it. Now this could be coincidence, but not even 2 days later, i started getting a cough and developed a head cold, so did my husband. I wish I threw the desserts out. Getting sick is not worth the $25 spent on the desserts. I wont be returning to this store. The fact the employee was aloud to work with food while sick, and didn't find anything wrong with coughing all over people's food is just gross. I would rather drive the extra distance and go to a different bakery where their food handling skills are better than the lady coughing all over people's food. The lady was in her mid to late 30's. Had long curly dark brown to black hair and was very skinny. Not impressed with this last visit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRecently was introduced to this place by my daughter. It looked quite obscure from the road but once I went inside, I was blown away with its quaintness and charm. The bakery area was impressive and the treats look( and taste) delicious. The food is prepared fresh and is very reasonably priced. The coffee served here, is my ultimate favorite. It's fresh and hot( piping hot!) and inexpensive. The Caesar Salad is splendid. The Sandwiches, which come on your choice of bread, are amazing and contain Real Meat not Premade slices. I give this place full stars, short of one point. The staff could do a better job of touching base with their eat in customers more (and not leave them waiting in case of wanting more coffee or additional food items).
*I have been back here several times since my previous review. I am still very impressed by this bakery/ restaurant ( In a lot of ways, even more so.) I've tried more of the items available on the menu and some new bakery and drink options. It's definitely a Go-To spot when I visit London now. I'm even more impressed to see improvement in their attention to Customer Service. š š¤ It may seem a small detail to some, but in certain circumstances, it can make or destroy a good outing. Great Job, Nova Era Bakery! š§š Keep Up The Good Work! š See You Again...
