Osmow's Shawarma — Restaurant in Ontario

TLDR: If you aren't able to drive to your favourite spot in Hamilton, Osmow's is a great substitute. Order ahead to avoid a wait. Order one spice level down. Your colon will thank you later. ;)

The lady that took my order over the phone was kind and made sure she had the order correct. The wait could have been long, but we ordered for a set time, so we didn't experience a wait. My wife and I ordered the Os box chicken on rice with fatoush, extra garlic sauce. Mine was medium heat. The chicken and rice were great, full of flavour and not dry at all. I didn't even use the extra garlic sauce. I really like heat, but I was warned that the spice levels at Osmow's were not in line with other restaurants in Caledonia... I found the medium was the same as extra spicy at Warraich Meats, which is right where I like it. Our only gripe is the lack of flavour and seasoning in the fatoush salad. The fried pitas were...

This is the McDonald's of shawarma. Dont go in with high expectations or you will be disappointed.

I want to like this place. Its very close to home and I would eat there all the time.

The only problem is it's just not good. The meat is very dry and lacks flavour compared to every shawarma joint I've ever tried. The rice is bland and unseasoned. The toppings belong in a Subway (where's the turnip??). The falafel are burnt on the outside and disturbingly mushy on the inside. The fattoush salad lacked any of the characteristics of a fattoush that you would expect (except pita chips).

I could go on and on about the food.

The restaurant, itself, is very clean (recently remodelled to purpose) so no complaints there. The staff are still figuring things out, so I will give them a pass.

Overall, very disappointing experience(s). It's definitely worthwhile driving into Hamilton to get a real shawarma...

Just had the medium spicy lamb. I enjoy spicy food and this was definitely over a medium. I was able to eat the food but the heat was overwhelming and all flavour was lost.

My wife waited 45 minutes total for two meals. She asked 35 minutes after ordering and it appeared that our order had been lost. The staff informed her they would check on her order and then proceeded to start making our order immediately. Although we appreciate the urgency here; admitting that a mistake had been made would have been the right move.

The staff were polite, welcoming and were extremely busy. They should be commended by the ownership/management for doing well under pressure despite the problems I have included in this review; they were doing their very best.

My wife has previously had Osmow's from another location and was ecstatic that one was coming to Caledonia. Unfortunately that feeling has changed to...
