Took myself out on a date (to picnic, quite literally) after quite sometime and it was amazing! The restaurant prides themselves in the ambience they bring to life with the wine and super eclectic Tapas and cocktail menu and I recommend the place whole heartedlyšŸ‘āļø They have live music everyday and Rachel was so talented with her songs on the guitar that the audience could totally see her version of the dayšŸ’• She had such a fresh voice enveloped with a hint of country that lit the place on a sunny day!! So go figureā™„ļø Despite being a vegetarian I could tell their oysters were popular as almost every second order was a platter of charcuterie and oysters. But but but - Let me introduce you to the vegetarian version of their specialty- Mushroom manchego TapasšŸ˜šŸ¤¤ Oh my god! The taste lingered for hours. It was really such a fresh twist- try it and your taste buds would thank you! Just a heads up, it has a drizzle of honey and thus goes well with their signature Sangria and/or their spicy beer aka electric dinosaur on the menu, which by the way was really good too!šŸ’• ~GoExplore

12/10 experience at PICNIC tapas & wine. Booked a 6pm reservation for dinner with the girls and was my first time visiting. We were seated in the front table at the window which was an ABSOLUTE VIBE! From the moment my group walked through the door we were greeted with warmth, a cozy environment - somewhere that truly felt like an extension of being in the comfort of your home sharing a meal with your loved ones. Started off with the $6 beer drink special, followed by $7 cocktails from 7pm, shishito peppers, a few cheeses from the charcuterie menu, the warm cheese & honey, chorizo, smoked duck, and oysters. All were INCREDIBLE! Followed by the pork belly and salmon ceviche *chefs kiss*. The octopus and burnt cheesecake will be the two items I HAVE to try the next time I’m back. Also to note, the house red was well-balanced and paired beautifully with every dish. Our server was incredible, I didn’t catch her name but she was fantastic. A true 5-star dining experience, probably one of my favourite experiences I’ve been out to in quite some time. ✨

YES!!!! (Just …..YES!) Visited today for lunch (15-May-2024), after having bumped into the owner ā€œJoelā€ across the street at another great establishment…(Rind and Truckle). Strongly recommended to me…I decided to give it a shot. I was promptly seated, in a clean, well-deforested, nicely lit restaurant right on Mississauga St. My server Jacqueline was polite, and very courteous. Ordered The Cauliflower appetizer and a Diet Coke. Took about 10 minutes to prepare. It was nicely roasted on a bed of some form of dipping sauce. It was well-seasoned, (not that it needed to be, I enjoy Cauliflower in all forms), and came with Kosher salt for sprinkling if so inclined. (I did not). It was topped with toasted Walnuts (if my taste buds don’t deceive me), and was absolutely delicious. Hot enough to enjoy without sacrificing the roof of your mouth. I can’t wait to get back and try their Guajillo Chicken sandwich. A must-visit for sure.

It’s a great place, my wife and I were initially going to the restaurant next door but it was too busy so we decided to walk around, we pass by for this restaurant and give it a try. The sangrias were nice. We order various tapas. Mushroom and Machego sandwich: it was my wife’s favorite. Baked cheese: super good, it was my favorite, in my wife case she didn’t like the sea salt on the bread , unfortunately her first bite was pure salt with honey. But then she was aware of it and enjoy it.

We really like the foie Gras, I know it will be my wife’s ā€œmust haveā€ every time we go.

We also had the duck confit, it was okay. The plate we like the least was the octopus, We discussed that it tasted like canned octopus. We were expecting something else.

Service was great, they were all super nice.

I noticed in the reviews that people is complaining about the portions beings too small, which I have to differ as the tapas supposed to be small so you can try the whole menu.

I was actually super happy that they were ā€œsmallā€ portions (its normal) as we don’t eat much and prefer to enjoy the food instead of getting full.

We happened to be lucky about the price as we went on a Tuesday and it was half price. Atmosphere is awesome, music is cool and the market looks interesting, we were tired we didn’t check much but we saw dry aged and sourdough. We are new in town and for sure we will be back soon to try more things and buy some stuff from the market. Great for inviting...

The Picnic Tapas and Wine is a great little restaurant in the heart of downtown Orillia. It is affiliated with "The Common Stove" which is a few blocks away, and the "Hog and Penny" which is just around the corner.

This restaurant is quite small, but quaint. There may be a small wait in order to get a seat, especially in the summertime.

It may seem confusing that I gave five stars for all of the amenities, but only gave four stars total. This is because the food is incredible, and the atmosphere is great, but the prices are quite Hefty for the quantity of food that you receive. I suggest not visiting on an empty stomach.

I tend to visit on Tuesday evenings , as this is a good opportunity to taste a couple of the tapas as they offer half price Tapas on Tuesdays.

There is a small gift shop area in the back of the restaurant, where you can purchase wines and a baked bread.

There is a paid parking lot around the corner, and metered parking on the street in front of the restaurant.

A great Hangout for girls night out, or a quaint date night with your...
