Itās a great place, my wife and I were initially going to the restaurant next door but it was too busy so we decided to walk around, we pass by for this restaurant and give it a try. The sangrias were nice. We order various tapas. Mushroom and Machego sandwich: it was my wifeās favorite. Baked cheese: super good, it was my favorite, in my wife case she didnāt like the sea salt on the bread , unfortunately her first bite was pure salt with honey. But then she was aware of it and enjoy it.
We really like the foie Gras, I know it will be my wifeās āmust haveā every time we go.
We also had the duck confit, it was okay. The plate we like the least was the octopus, We discussed that it tasted like canned octopus. We were expecting something else.
Service was great, they were all super nice.
I noticed in the reviews that people is complaining about the portions beings too small, which I have to differ as the tapas supposed to be small so you can try the whole menu.
I was actually super happy that they were āsmallā portions (its normal) as we donāt eat much and prefer to enjoy the food instead of getting full.
We happened to be lucky about the price as we went on a Tuesday and it was half price. Atmosphere is awesome, music is cool and the market looks interesting, we were tired we didnāt check much but we saw dry aged and sourdough. We are new in town and for sure we will be back soon to try more things and buy some stuff from the market. Great for inviting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTook myself out on a date (to picnic, quite literally) after quite sometime and it was amazing! The restaurant prides themselves in the ambience they bring to life with the wine and super eclectic Tapas and cocktail menu and I recommend the place whole heartedlyšāļø They have live music everyday and Rachel was so talented with her songs on the guitar that the audience could totally see her version of the dayš She had such a fresh voice enveloped with a hint of country that lit the place on a sunny day!! So go figureā„ļø Despite being a vegetarian I could tell their oysters were popular as almost every second order was a platter of charcuterie and oysters. But but but - Let me introduce you to the vegetarian version of their specialty- Mushroom manchego Tapasšš¤¤ Oh my god! The taste lingered for hours. It was really such a fresh twist- try it and your taste buds would thank you! Just a heads up, it has a drizzle of honey and thus goes well with their signature Sangria and/or their spicy beer aka electric dinosaur on the menu, which by the way was really good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Picnic Tapas and Wine is a great little restaurant in the heart of downtown Orillia. It is affiliated with "The Common Stove" which is a few blocks away, and the "Hog and Penny" which is just around the corner.
This restaurant is quite small, but quaint. There may be a small wait in order to get a seat, especially in the summertime.
It may seem confusing that I gave five stars for all of the amenities, but only gave four stars total. This is because the food is incredible, and the atmosphere is great, but the prices are quite Hefty for the quantity of food that you receive. I suggest not visiting on an empty stomach.
I tend to visit on Tuesday evenings , as this is a good opportunity to taste a couple of the tapas as they offer half price Tapas on Tuesdays.
There is a small gift shop area in the back of the restaurant, where you can purchase wines and a baked bread.
There is a paid parking lot around the corner, and metered parking on the street in front of the restaurant.
A great Hangout for girls night out, or a quaint date night with your...
