As part of my recent visit to the Orillia area, I made sure to spend some time at Couchiching Park and Beach, and I'm glad I did. This beautiful public park located right on the shores of Lake Simcoe offers a wonderful respite from the sleepier downtown core.
The park itself is very well-maintained, with neatly groomed pathways, grassy areas, and plenty of picnic tables and benches for visitors to enjoy. The real highlight, however, is the expansive sandy beach area that provides direct access to the lake. On a warm summer day, it's the perfect place to relax, swim, or simply take in the serene waterfront views.
One of the best features of Couchiching Park is the variety of activities and amenities it offers. In addition to the beach, there are playgrounds for children, a boat launch, a disc golf course, and numerous walking/hiking trails that weave through the wooded areas of the park. I really enjoyed exploring the different sections and discovering the various ways to spend time outdoors.
The only real drawback I encountered was the lack of on-site dining options. While there are a few small concession stands, I would have loved to see a higher-quality restaurant or cafe located within the park itself. As it stands, visitors have to venture back into the downtown area to find more substantial food and beverage choices.
Overall, Couchiching Park and Beach is a wonderful green space that offers a peaceful and picturesque lakeside experience. If you're visiting Orillia, I highly recommend setting aside a few hours to explore this beautiful public park. Just be sure to pack a picnic lunch or snacks to fully enjoy...

The best part.. the beach has the baywaych kind - guards who are really pro active and hence makes it a safe place for the kids to learn swimming in the nature . There was a small fair happening where there were Mary go round , a small cute train , dragon ride , bouncy castle and corn maze . There were stalls for some local businesses and popcorn . An easy whole day spent . Another best part , the washrooms are very close to beach and not super crowded and also very very neat .
