AMAZING, AFFORDABLE GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE. I am one who adores good pub/bar food... now this is top quality, practically fine dining when it comes to these favorities, in my opinion.
I'm always sceptical when it comes to burgers or wings or other pub favourites. I am a wing (and overall good pub food) fanatic. Anyone can tell I am enjoying my meal by the "Mmmm, mmmm, mmm! 's" finger lickin's and" Omg, so f**king good" 's coming out of me".
Plank Road Tap & Grill did not disappoint. Went here for boxing day or holiday dinner. My boyfriend got the blank burger with 2x 4oz smash patties vs. An 8oz regular patty.
I was troubled between this for myself and 2oz of wings. I went with the Cajun dry rub added butter for the buttery taste). ... omg. They were great! The waiter really knew what he was talking about and could tell he genuinely enjoys the food himself.
I tried some bites of the smash plank burger and mmm it was delicious! I said "now that is some good beef!" I could taste the juicy beef filling my mouth before I even sunk my teeth into it. Juicy and cooked to perfection with the two 4 ounce smash patties over a larger patty. Super fricken good.
There was literally little to no disappointment. I want to give 5 stars all the way. Customer service was amazing, Speed of food at the table - tremendous.
Great atmosphere. I grew up in the country/norfolk area. Live in Hamilton now. It gave off these nice Lil country vibes for sure. Not too loud, easy to have a conversation or a quiet time.
The only remarkable feedback I could make towards improvement for Plank Road would be, "Make your own homemade fries guys!". I was surprised the fries were that of the same I could buy frozen and make at home.
Now, considering how mouth watering good, fresh and quality everything else was - the important contents...

We had come here for lunch once before and it was great but unfortunately not this last time. We had ordered our food at about 6:05 and it wasn't delivered to our table until 7:10 (after I saw it sit under the lights for almost 8 minutes). It was packed, but that was unnecessary when other tables around us were getting food and some had sat AFTER us. We ordered the most simple stuff too - shrimp salad, chicken fingers and greek salad and fish and chips.
The fish was fine, but the portion was less than when we had the same thing for lunch before. On a too small plate and a smallish portion of fries. Not worth the price really.
My greek side salad was so drenched in dressing that the lettuce was soggy and the dressing was dripping down. It was soupy in the bowl. I asked if they could re do it and when the new one came, it was still over dressed and ended up being a cucumber and tomato salad because there was only a few pieces of lettuce. I didn't bother eating.
The shrimp salad was the same and she could only muster to eat half.
When our server came with the bill, I explained how disappointed I was with the salads and that we didn't eat them all because it was just too unpalatable. I explained it was frustrating after waiting for that long and then to be disappointed and go home hungry after spending $100.
His response was that he was sorry to hear that but it was really busy and they were trying to keep up and suggested I would enjoy the burgers. I was quite shocked actually. No attempt to try and do anything about it at all.
I am really hoping this was just an off night in general, but am...
Read moreI pass through Hagersville every now and then and decided to finally try this place few weeks back. It was a Sunday and first experience was not bad other than the long wait times for food due to them being understaffed which the waitress informed us of. All good. Ordered coconut shrimp, escargot, plank burger and half and half BBQ/honey garlic wings. Could clearly see and taste the coconut shrimp was overcooked, the escargot was completely smothered in cheese and was slightly undercooked, plank burger was cooked nicely and 6 out of 8 wings were BBQ and did not come with celery and carrots. Waitress was polite and apologized for the wait times and gave a slice of apology cheesecake to make up for it.
Passing through again late evening couple days after, I believe it was Wednesday. A different waitress greeted us this time around. We sat down and it took the waitress 15 minutes to ask for our drink order and another 15 mins to bring our 2 drinks. And it was not busy. Patiently waiting for her to ask what we would like to eat, I was eager to finish my drink, pay and leave. Was too busy entertaining the large group of people shouting and socializing with them for nearly half hour before turning around and noticing we were trying to get her attention. Ordered the coconut shrimp again hoping it would be better this time but wasn't. Still overcooked. The flatbread was not too bad, and the plank burger was undercooked this time around. We lost our appetite, ended up getting take out containers and leaving. Overall, not too impressed with...
