It's under new management so I gave it a try.
A lot of money was spent on the food pictures to give this place a gourmet feel to it. The black and gold coloring gives it a sense of class when it's just a pizza shop. Not the kind of place you'll go to sit down for a meal.
The $16 large 3 topping "special" isn't special as it's maybe $0.50 cheaper than creating your own.
I think some of the other specials are also the same as regular price
Service was great. Nice fella working behind the counter.
Took 29 minutes from time of payment to receiving the pizza. A touch slow as I was the only one in there at 6pm the whole time but maybe they had online orders to fill
The pizza itself wasn't great. I order my pizza a very specific way and have tried most pizza locations around London and the biggest issue for this one is the dough. It's just way too dense!
The topping amounts were reasonable although the standard amount of cheese was definitely lacking. The toppings felt like they lacked flavor but that could have been the dough overpowering everything. The outside crust was dense but cooked. Towards the middle the dough was pretty much raw and became chewy. If it had been cooked longer the outside would have burned though.
The bottom had a slight crust to it but the weight of the dough just flops every slice.
I got 3 slices in and felt like I had just eaten a loaf of barely cooked bread an couldn't eat any more.
I'm not looking forward to eating this one cold.
Overall 3/5. It wasn't crazy over priced and I'm sure some people will enjoy that type of pizza. If they reduced the quantity of dough and allowed it to aerate it would definitely...
Read moreShould have written this earlier but I forgot. Had high hopes for Romanos. We had a group of around 14 people at a house party about 2 months ago and ordered 2 of the 24" tray pizzas for delivery. Ordering online was quick and easy.
Placed an order for delivery and it said it would be around 30-40 minutes. The restaurant called me an HOUR later saying that they *just received the online order and they would start working on it asap and it would be delivered in 30 minutes. We were all very annoyed at this point but whatever.
Another hour passes and no pizza. Keep in mind the restaurant is only a 10 minute drive away, at best. I had to call them back asking what was going on and where it was. They said the driver was on the way and it would be 5 minutes.
20 minutes later and the delivery driver finally arrived. So it had already been 2 hours and 20 minutes since ordering at this point and everyone was annoyed, hungry, and starving.
We opened the pizza and it looked like it had been steamrolled. It was paper thin and there were even holes in it because of how thin it was. You would have to stack 3 pieces of top of each other to make 1 normal sized piece of pizza. And it was super cold. Taste was not that great either. Tasted like they used store bought sauce, and the amount of cheese was abysmal there were large chunks of pizza that were just dough and sauce.
Needless to say, this brought everyone's spirits down. Still had to pay the delivery fee after all the waiting around which kinda sucked too.
Have not and will not be ordering from...
Read moreJUNE 25: I ordered today for the first time: small pizzas at $14.99 each (The Frank Lucas and The Cosa Nostra) and a large order of garlic knots at $10.99. A little pricey, but the portions were good.
The pizzas were delicious. Crispy but fluffy crust, and perfectly portioned toppings. Definitely some of the best pizza I have had in London. It was like upscale restaurant pizza. The smalls are 12" and these were true to size, no skimping!
Unfortunately, half of my knots were burnt on the bottom, and the ones that were burnt on the bottom were also hard/crispy instead of soft and fluffy. There also was no real garlic flavor to them at all. The non-burnt knots were soft and fluffy like a Pilsbury crescent roll which was nice. The portion was quite large which I really appreciated for the price.
Overall, I would recommend them. I'm sure the knots were just a batch of bad luck, so hopefully next time is better. I will definitely order from them again - this pizza is amazing! :)
JUNE 30: I ordered 2 small pizzas again - The Antipasto and La Madrina. Both are absolutely delicious. Crust is amazing, flavors are plentiful, and the small is an accurate 12"! Might make it my summer mission to try every pizza they have....
JULY 23: I ordered 1 medium Blazin Brett pizza. Delicious. The mustard is just the right amount to give it some flavor. Probably my...
