Wow where do I start wish I could give this place 0stars , first of all of you look at all my reviews I travel across Canada and have tried many different styles of butter chicken so here is what happened We decided to give his place a try my boyfriend went to pick it up and was told to give feed back Our order was 2 butterchickens 2 samosas And one naan bread
Butterchicken was bland had no flavour missing that creamy texture kinda looked like the yourgert was curdled was extremely thick the chicken was actually not that bad but not my first choice
The samosas were alright nothing special unless you like frozen vegetables in something cooked "fresh" The naan bread was alright once again nothing special unless u like Dowie hard beef jerky ...
so my boyfriend called and told the young man working the counter our feed back of course we just said we were not happy that the butterchicken was missing flavour and the young man said come back before 915 and we will give you a full refund
After we decided that I was not going to ask for a full refund BECOUSE that was not fair. So in my mind when I was driving back was just going to ask for a refund of just the butter chicken well that did not happen....
The young man was very pleasant asked me what was wrong, and a older guy assuming the chef was listening to me explain that the dish was missing it's flavor, was not buttery or creamy was missing the Cardiman flavor ,
Well when this happens the old guy chef said horrible things to me "I know nothing About flavor" " I don't know how to cook" I bit my toung and asked the young man to refund me just the butter chicken as he was making that calculation The chef kept yelling at me as the vein was popping out of his neck I know nothing about anything etc I felt like gum on the bottom of someone shoe at this point I said " hey maybe you should go back into the kitchen and let the young man Handel the customers I want a full refund ... I went back home to my boyfriend he was very up set that I was degraded so we drove back and I was so shocked
The way the chef spoke to my boyfriend was a complete 180 He was not raising his voice saying clam and nice At that point it became pretty clear the chef spoke very arrogantly and rude towards me BECOUSE I am a woman , he never spoke out of tune when my boyfriend confronted him about the terrible things he was saying to me. He denied everything to me and my boyfriends face" he never said anything to me like that" Flat out lie
I have never once been put in a situation where woman were treated differently then men . I never thought that being a woman I would get treated so differently and completely degraded, I never felt so humiliated and I can't believe I was spoken to in such a disrespectful awful way.
I never thought I would ever feel that I was not equal because I am a woman today I was proven wrong !!!!
I do not recommend this place to...
Read moreI'm not even sure where to start! From the time we walked in, Shaker was adamant that we would enjoy our experience, and we did. It was our first time here, it was our second time experiencing Indian food- I mispoke and mentioned it was our first time, apparently the first time (somewhere else) wasn't memorable. As soon as Shaker realized we had never been there, and no real experience order their food, he took his time to explain it all. We went with the dinner for 2 (the $71 one) and left it up to Shaker and Saber to pick our soup and desserts. The soup was amazing, we both kept saying we would come back for the soup alone. The samosa were fresh, hot and perfectly seasoned. The onion fritters were amazing and we devoured them in no time. Then came the naan bread and main dishes, butter chicken, a lamb dish, shrimp and a rice dish. This was our first time trying lamb and it was amazing, it was a tie with the butter chicken for being our favorite. For not being a shrimp lover, they were great and the veggies were cooked perfectly. The rice had a nice sweet almost coconut flavour to it. Our dessert was cream cheese base served with a warm sweet syrup- to die for! We could not stop talking the entire time about how great it was. A patron beside of us got a kick out of our excitement and mentioned this was the only place he would get Indian food. Saber came out to say hello from the kitchen, just as we were starting to really get into our food. He was polite, welcomed us and mentioned he would come back after we had a chance to eat. It started to get busy and we had somewhere to be, unfortunately didn't get a chance to praise him for the great tasting food. We can't wait to go back again, I rarely recommend anyone to try a restaurant, but I am recommending anyone wanting to experience Indian food to try here. Be sure to tell them it's your first time, they will be sure to go through the menu with you, even adjust the spice heat-not too many places willing to do that for you. As you can see from yhe photo, we couldn't wait to dig into the great food. This meal was large enough for 4 to share, be prepared to take food home. Thank you, Shaker and Saber, we look forward to...
Read moreWell, Sometimes good things happen to you when you least expect them to. Saber's was one such experience. We were driving our way back to Toronto after a cruise at thousand island, everyone famished to the core and craving for a dose of sumptuous Indian food, and omnipresent Saint Google came to help. Well, the place is easy to miss though as it gets disguised in a large plaza. The easiest way to find is look right across Papa John's. Now. let's get to real Business. Let me confess that I did not expect much when I looked at the menu. It seemed like those typical Western Indian restaurants where Indian food gets stereotyped into, curries, Kormas, Vindaloos and Madras, but little did I know that I was in for a pleasant surprise.
What we ordered? Appetizers (non veg) - Chicken garlic kebabs Appetizers (veg) - Pakoras and Samosa
Chicken Kebabs were fine, served on a bed of lemon rice and salad on a side. Although fine in taste, they were a bit dry for my liking. But, a special tangy dip served with it was a killer. It did leave a lingering after taste in mouth. Pakoras and Samosas were a pass, nothing too spectacular, but not bad.
Main course
Non veg Lamb curry Chicken tikka masala Naans
Veg
Veg Biryani
Lamb curry , I would say has been the best I have tested in Canada so far. The lamb was perfectly cooked, juicy and succulent bathing in thick, spicy gravy.
Chicken tikka masala - I would restrain myself from calling it absolutely delicious as again the chicken was a bit too dry for my overtly active Indian palate, but gravy was fine, nothing much to complain about
Naans were no different from others, they were just okay.
Veg biryani - A good delicious biryani. The aroma was suggestive that it was cooked in ghee. Being a hard core Dum biryani fan, I usually don't enjoy these pan fried biryanis, but this one hit the taste buds well
Desserts - Kulfi
We ordered kulfis, initially one and then another and then another. I can't help but say that it was truly delicious. Plus it had drops of mango pulp sprinkled over.
All in all , a good experience
P.S. - If you are a spice lover, make sure to ask the waiter to make it...
