Tahini's Windsor — Restaurant in Ontario

As a big fan of shawarma’s, who has tried them in many countries, I always come in with high hopes but realistic expectations. I’m not saying this was the worst kebab I’ve had - it wasn’t - but I do want to be honest, especially since the social media presentation and the real-life experience were quite different.

Let’s start with the Gyros. Lawash was actually quite good - soft, fresh, and definitely a highlight. Unfortunately, the meat didn’t meet the mark for me. It tasted like low-grade minced meat with just a small amount of vegetables, definitely not what I was expecting based on the online photos.

Now, the butter chicken. That one was a letdown. Cutting raw chicken straight from the rotisserie and then pan-frying it doesn’t feel like the right approach - especially when I found undercooked pieces inside. On top of that, the meat had a lot of cartilage and sinew, which I had to pick out while eating. Not ideal.

One last thing - I ordered gyro with mild and butter chicken with hot sauce, but they both tasted the same level of spicy. Maybe it was a mix-up, maybe not - but when you take food to go, you only find out once you’re home.

In the end, it’s a 2 out of 5 from me. The bread was solid, but overall, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. Hopefully, this feedback helps...

Came into today for the grand opening and was not pleased with the service at all. Ordered 6 wraps and waited an hour and a half to receive order. One of the employees spent the entire time I was there talking to her friends. The chicken was over cooked because it was left unattended and unmixed on the grill for a long period of time before the lady who was speaking with her friends returned, cut off more chicken and added it to the batch that had already been sitting there for a long time. The male employee working making the pitas prioritized a friends order before the customers who had ordered way before him and when people had asked for a time frame for when their food would be ready he had told them to leave and come back later because that’s how long they were taking. For a place that has been open for about a month I would have expected for them to be more prepared and to not lack urgency especially on a busy day like today. There was 5 workers total and food orders were being made about every 10-13 minutes in between (singular orders/items btw). I was very disappointed in what I saw today and for what...

My family has been trying to dine here since it has opened, however it has always been too busy with wait times of 20-30+ minutes. We finally had our opportunity this evening. It was 7:30 p.m. and the restaurant was empty. After we placed our order, we sat down at a table since there was going to be a wait for our order. The booths were filthy, so we opted for what looked like a clean table. It turns out my seat had a french fry on it. Yes, I missed seeing it, but with the state the restaurant was in, I hold the team responsible for not cleaning the dining room. I now have a giant grease stain on my dress. While we waited for our order, a team member actually sat at one of the filthy booths to eat their dinner. They clearly don't see the issue with a dirty dining area. Our meal was a take-out order. We got home and discovered that we did not receive our side order of a fattoush salad. Instead, there was a large bag with a scant amount of french fries in it.
