The Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Ontario

This was our first visit here and I guarantee well be back!! Hubby and I live about 2 1/2 hr away and come to Belleville every now n then. I also have a doctor there. Love the decor, the seating and tables arewell set up. We both had the daily special of 1 pc Haddock & chips for $9.95. It is without a doubt, the BEST fish I've ever had at a fish n chips place! Food was good and hot, fish battered light and crispy, no oilyness to it whatsoever! The fries were also good n hot and nicely well done! Creamy coleslaw is my fave so I loved it! The ONLY negative was the service. Our server was a charming lady but she was all by herself in this big place! Over lunch rush! Drinks and food were brought very quickly but then she never came back. I wanted a pop refill but ended up drinking some of hubbys water. And we would have waited forever for the bill so I went up to the cash and paid. HIRE MORE SERVERS FOR LUNCH RUSH!! The kitchen staff were helping her clear...

Here's my honest review of the time my wife & I visited "The fish and chips" in Belleville.

When we arrived there weren't too many guests and there was plenty of parking. We were immediately greeted upon entry and sat by the windows. The server was kind and reflected a positive attitude which was nice considering she was all alone serving the whole restaurant.

We ordered the classic, haddock and chips and man oh man was it absolutely delicious. Reminded us of the fish and chips we had in Halifax. The batter was cooked to perfection and the fries were so tasty! The portions were HUGE and service was prompt.

While dining there were a lot of locals taking "take-out" and it was no shocker as this restaurant has a good thing going.

Overall, if you're craving some classic tasting Fish and Chips 🐟 🍟 you MUST check out...

The fish and chips were very good. The batter wasn't excessive and there was a good portion of fish in each piece. The fries were cooked well and it's one of the better thick cut fries I've eaten. Just make sure to add your own salt and pepper. The fries shrimp and onion rings were quite good. Their fried scallops were okay but a bit on the fishy side. Do not get their chowder as it's pretty watery and not creamy as it should be. Their cole slaw and salad is standard, but it tastes fresh.
