As bad as it can get. I ordered the Fish & Chips and got a thing that looked like it had been battered in a cornflakes concoction with absolutely no flavour - there was no seasoning much less the flavour of fish. It was a tasteless, flat and unappetizing thing. Made from scratch this was not as it was made so fast something about it had to have been precooked. The Caesar salad which accompanied it and was an "upgrade" to the fries was wilted and yellowed so badly that it should have been tossed out rather than tossed and offered to a paying customer. The lemon wedge that came with it was an insult as it was not a wedge but more of a cube of lemon - essentially a chunk from a wedge about half an inch by half an inch in dimension (stingy beyond belief and a red light that this establishment is concerned about cutting corners at the expense of customer satisfaction and experience). The lemon cube was the only fresh thing about the entire plate.

It was very clear that the food in this establishment is not about providing a delicious meal but about meeting the minimum requirement needed to be able to sell beer and liquor. Do not come here to eat because you will be disappointed.

The Stella I ordered had turned and I sent it promptly back in exchange for a dark ale which was only marginally better. I know good beer when I drink it and this was not it.

The service was friendly but inattentive. I was only asked how the food was when it was clear I had finished eating because I moved the plate aside and placed my napkin on top. Perhaps the waiters and waitresses knew something about the food I did not and explains why they did not inquire about it in a timely manner.

Overall this place seems to be one more in a long line of bad restaurants in London one should avoid. The spacious dining room and comfortable ambiance are the only positive things about this bar restaurant and it does not make up for bad food, questionable beer, and mediocre service. $37.00+ dollars poorer I walked away disappointed, and still hungry and with the distinct impression that I had been taken for a fool.

Avoid The Squire...

5 of us went in for dinner before the Lainey Wilson concert for dinner & a few drinks. When we sat down the waitress let us know of an automatic gratuity of 18% on tables of 5 or more which we said wasn’t a problem. She was lovely & treated us very well. Upon asking for our bills she let us know we could t split the bill 5 ways, when questioned about it she let us know it was because “they’re to busy” although it was an event night I wouldn’t say they were to busy to split a bill 5 ways, after working in the service industry myself I can say it does NOT take much longer to do so. We were very nice speaking with her when she said she was going to get the manager to see what he could do. Needless to say our experience would’ve been just fine if it was only the waitress we dealt with. When he came out he had 0 customer service skills, spoke to us like we were dirt under his feet. He had told us “the policy is RIGHT there in the menu but clearly you didn’t read it” not how you should speak to a table of women trying to have a nice experience in YOUR establishment. He then got a menu, threw it on the table in front of us & started raising his voice & continuing with the rude & angry tone. He told us we had 2 options, 1 was to pay it in full or 2 was to split it in half, & to pick one. If you have to take the time to split it in half you can split it 5 ways. They had an excuse that they only had 3 debit machines & it was to busy to give them to us, well if you’re that busy maybe invest in some more debit machines! Needless to say the manager was the rudest person I have EVER encountered & to run a business like that with absolutely ZERO respect & kindness to his costumers is absurd. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Would never recommend to anyone who wants a nice experience. & as far as his comment back to another person sitting at our table we were nothing but nice & polite to the waitress, student staff & hostess, we will gladly take our...

One of the worst run restaurants I have ever been to. Party of 8 heading to a show at Budweiser for 7pm. We arrived at 430pm. There were two tables already seated and eating, rest of tables and patio empty. They stuck is upstairs where there is one table. We got our menu's, ordered drinks, we got a different server who took more drink orders, then we waited. Finally we got another server who took our order. We watched the restaurant fill and watched those patrons who came in after us get their food. By 615pm we still did not have our food and the server kept telling us they were busy and the kitchen was small. But we were there before anyone who was already enjoying their food. The manager was informed and he was willing to give a discount however our food was still not ready. As we were talking to the staff they kept giving excuses on how busy it is and how the kitchen was small. Excuses after excuses. At 640 pm still no food and more excuses. The manager was rude, telling us not to yell at the staff, which we weren't, we were just explaining that we were there before anyone else that was already eating. He got in our faces and we ended up leaving. Horrible experience, and would not recommend this place to anyone. Can't rate the food as it never came, atmosphere was dingy in the upstairs booth...took them half an hour to even turn on lights up there. Servers switched without even informing us and excuses after excuses for the long wait time. Zero stars is what I rate this horrible restaurant! Won't ever go back and that manager needs to learn people skills. Out of our party of 8, 4 of them are servers, so they were appalled at this horrible service and experience. Think twice before heading...

Brought the 2 ladies in my life (wife & granddaughter) in for a meal on a slower Tuesday p.m. just before heading over to London's Grand Theatre for the first showing of "Clue," the play. Squires has a great pub decor. Comfy bench seats for us ancient office workers. Kudos to the owners on conversion into a memorable place worth the visit. I member a bank was here and next door was Howard's Men's Wear. Squires' food & service was excellent. Deep fried dill slices appetizer was superb with the homemade dill dipping sauce. My Squire Burger (the smaller one) was top shelf stuff. I rarely do food pics, but I had no choice this time. Nice simple presentation & perfectly cooked. Ladies both had the buttermilk crispy Farmhouse chicken sandwich. They luved them & will pass the word. Thanks to Chef Connor & Chris at bar for a nice, memorable afternoon meal with my 2 fav ladies. Definitely coming back & I will recommend the pub & grill to my business acquaintances, friends & family. P.S. The ladies confessed afterwards that my own, highly coveted home made burgers cannot compare to what Chef Connor made. I am biased, of course, but I must too confess - best burger I've had since the family's 2015 trip to P.E.I. The Cobs buns were perfect.

I have previously visited The Squire for a few drinks, but sampled their food for the very time last night and was thoroughly impressed. My pros and cons are listed below. Pros: Modern and clean atmosphere Friendly staff that immediately greets you and remains attentive Wide variety of beer offered Refined menu that offers some solid options Wings are seasoned very well Buffalo Chicken Dip with Kettle Chips was a huge hit Frosted 32oz steins is ideal for any beer lover Cons: Wings are surprisingly small compared to some of the more established restaurants that specialize in that area While I love the refined menu, there is certainly room for a few more signature items Overall, The Squire tends to be a hidden gem located in downtown London that deserves your attention. If you frequently attend Budweiser Gardens or happen to be downtown with friends, this could easily become your new go-to-establishment.

If you want to go for Londonlicious - I’d suggest don’t bother. The website says the only time the menu is unavailable is on London Knights game nights so we checked the game schedule first and then headed downtown. We get there and we were told it’s not available if ANYTHING is happening at Canada Life Place which is mentioned no where on the Londonlicious website and excludes a lot of evenings. Unless you are in the mood for a bait and switch, don’t bother wasting your time going downtown and finding / paying for parking. Response: As written above we did not come on a night that the London Knights are playing. We were told that it’s not being served if ANYTHING is happening at Canada Life Place.
