Food was excellent, sercice was good. Modern aesthetic. Portions were adequate, in some cases generous. The coconut soup was a mix of creamy coconut and warm spice, capsaicin heat with flavourful smokiness. Hint of cilantro, not tio much. Well balanced and served steamy hot. The satay sauce srrved with the crispy xhicken skewers was delightful, dense and delicious and you can never get enough of it. 😊 Tidy amd friendly woth an air of finer dining. I didnt care for the metal chopsticks though the aesthetic is very fine they were awkward to use. Blame my western raised fingers I suppose, but I didn't care for them. It was an afternoon visit for a late lunch and it was nit busy at all. Parking downtown was nightmarish, finding the place awkward ,we walked right past it looking for it specifically the three of us. I don't blame the restaurant for this, just an observation. Once inside it's a nice experience and I'd eat there again. Probably one of the best Thai food experiences in London, but not THE best. The aesthetic is date night, business lunch. Staff attitude at first impressions (maitreD) was less comfortable friendly and more of that cold old formality of fine dining mindset, that they are doing you a favour by letting you in the door... Young lady server was a friendlier interactive experience and saved the dining experience for us on a whole,.so did the kitchen staff. The food was quite good. The plates arrived HOT and fresh and pleasantly arranged. Formally trained kitchen staff was the immediate impression. Our server knew the menu items intimately and was patient with our fumbling over language barriers. All in all a good eating experience. Would I line up to eat here, perhaps. Would I call ahead for reservations for a larger group, yes. LGBTQ+ friendly, yes that was our perception and experience. Confusingly the washroom is behind the bar by the kitchen door but on the main level, so that's a bonus for accessibility. Though sadly not what I'd call wheelchair friendly. We didn't sample the bartender's skills this visit,...
Read moreIt's understandable that many small businesses suffer during lockdown but that is no excuse for false advertising. We have eaten at Thaifoon before and have always been pleased with the quality of the food but today we ordered delivery off their Londonlicious menu and were really disappointed with what we received. The items we ordered as a set from their Londonlicious menu are actually more expensive than if you were to order each item off their regular menu. That completely defeats the purpose of Londonlicious and we didn't find this out until they sent the food with their normal take-out menu attached and we compared the prices. We ordered the fresh rolls, crispy spring rolls, pad thai, fried plantains, and mango sticky rice. The food did arrive hot and on time, so I don't share that complaint with the other reviewers. However, both the fresh rolls and the crispy spring rolls lacked flavour and I would not recommend ordering those items from their menu. The reason why I am giving them any stars at all is because their pad thai really was delicious - flavourful and hot, definitely one of the better pad thais in the city. Sadly though, both desserts were very small portion sizes for the meal set price. On the Londonlicious website their desserts were all listed as including ice cream but we did not receive any. When I called back to ask if they would send some, the customer service rep was friendly but made it out to seem like my fault as they explained that ice cream is for dine-in only. Since we cannot dine-in during the lockdown they should have either omitted ice cream from their Londonlicious menu or specifically stated when I called to order that the ice cream would not be available. They said they would send the driver back out with the ice cream and it took over 2 hours since speaking with the rep for the...
Read moreThe dining experience here at Thaifoon was the perfect way to end a day trip to London with friends. We split and enjoyed the Avo Moon Shine, a plate of deep fried dumplings. I ordered the Thai peanut noodles with panko-crusted shrimp and it came to the table beautifully-presented, it tasted absolutely delicious, and it was quite filling. The Mango Moon was a creamy mango daiquiri mocktail, which I also loved. Our waitress, Maya C., was very informative when it came to the menu; she was very attentive during the meal, often checking in to make sure everything was good; and very meticulous when she was splitting the bill between the six of us to ensure that everything was accurate. When she first greeted us to take our orders and asked if we were celebrating anything, we mentioned that we don't get to meet too often as a group because we all live busy lives in different cities throughout Ontario, so when we do get a chance to meet up (at least once a year if we're lucky), we joked that we celebrate our birthdays together. So the surprise of the evening was when she came to the table with a complimentary dessert (a deep fried scoop of vanilla ice cream with cookie crumble and whipped cream with a sparkler in the middle) to help us celebrate our birthdays together and she took a photo of us together when we asked. This was the cherry on top of an amazing dining experience at Thaifoon. Thank you Maya and Thaifoon for an incredible dining experience. This restaurant was recommended to me by family and I will definitely be recommending...
