My husband and I are from Markham and have only been to London, Ontario a few times. Whenever we are there, we will go to Covent Garden Market and visit Tea Haus and the burek place to get some bureks home .
Two weeks ago after running some errands at Burlington, we took an unplanned trip to London while enroute to St. Thomas. We arrived at Covent Garden within an hour of its closing. I was looking for a particular kind of tea strainer that was not available at Tea Haus. Stefanie, the owner of Tea Haus, was so kind that she suggested me to try the Dollarama store nearby. I was amazed at her going out of her way to recommend me trying at another local store.
We ended up chatting and I told her that my daughter used to come to Tea Haus while she was a resident at the local university and that she is still shopping tea online from Tea Haus. Stefanie was so nice that she gave me two coupons for free tea on our next visit.
Since we were running out of time, I sent my husband to get some frozen bereks from the other side of the Market. The weather was hot that day and we didn’t bring enough ice for the cooler. To ensure we can safely transport the frozen bureks home, Stefanie gave me a huge bag of ice from her own fridge, and she refused to have me pay for it. At the same time, she told the security guard to let me pass through the locked gate so I was able to meet my husband on the other side of the Market.
While we drove out of the Market parking, my daughter called me and she wanted me to get her some tea. I called Stefanie and she was able to get me what she wanted even though the store as well as the Market were closed already. She then directed me where to park and how to return to her shop.
We didn’t spend much at Tea Haus. However, we felt the genuineness and warmth of the people in London. Stefanie, thank you for instilling hope in humanity!
I would give Tea Haus a thumbs up...
Read moreI have been a customer of The Tea Haus for over ten years. When I lived in London, I would drop by their peaceful location in the upper level of Covent Garden Market, and have a lovely cup of tea, alone or with a friend. Since I've moved to Toronto, I've made a point of stopping by whenever I'm back in town visiting family, and have often picked up large bags of my favourite teas to take back with me. I have never found a tea seller I've liked more in either city, with regard to the product they sell, the selection they carry, and the quality of their expertise and friendly service.
During the pandemic, I've ordered from the Tea Haus website instead of going back in person. With Toronto in stage two again, I am drinking a lot more tea at home, and it is really worth it to have higher quality tea in my mug! When my order arrived, I was delighted to see that they had included a sample of a tea similar to those I'd ordered. The Tea Haus is an independent store, not a big retailer, so it means a lot to me that they would do that. It's the sort of kindness that shows you what a local shop is worth to the community!
The Tea Haus is London's hidden gem. I hope the community can help them keep their doors open during the pandemic, whether that's literally open or metaphorically through online sales. I'm going to do my part from afar, and hope that one day soon it will be safe for me to visit them again, and enjoy a cup of tea on the balcony of...
Read moreFor the last 7 years, I have been a Steeped Tea customer. I am a creature of habit. I have drank the same vanilla matcha every morning for that period of time. My most recent order tasted off. I emailed customer service, which resulted in new tea being sent to me. It still tasted off. Clearly they have changed something. I was upset and uncertain as to what to do. A friend recommended The Tea Haus to me. I went to the store directly hoping to find my beloved vanilla matcha. I discovered it is something they don't have. Instead of just letting me leave disappointed, the lady recommended I try their matcha, for free! She also recommended brewing a cup of vanilla rooibos tea and mixing them together if I still missed the vanilla. Well, I can't begin to thank her enough. First of all, I love rooibos and I had a few different flavours already at home. I tried the matcha, and discovered that I really liked it. I bought the matcha and was given a sample of rooibos. When I made some the next day, I mixed it as suggested, and Wow! I loved it. I have become more adventurous and mixed the matcha with different flavours of rooibos and have loved it all. I recently ran out of my new delicious matcha, so I ordered it online. It's not nearby nor convenient to get to the store. Anyway, my order arrived the very next day!! Basically, the tea is wonderful, the service is wonderful, and ordering online is easy and painless. I 100%...
