I randomly found the place on google, while researching, and thought the pineapple yogurt boat was adorable, so I had to check it out. TOAST was my first stop on the birthday train.
Let’s go plate by plate.
POUTINE - Ribbons of melted cheese curds through a river of gravy atop of a heaping plate of crispy french fries.
Hungry man special- SAUSAGE-The best Link sausage i’ve ever eaten- no exaggeration. the casing had a nice snap, to a savory pork sausage, with the most amazing flavor and it was popping with juices. EGG-For my choice of egg I went with the soft scramble. They were fluffy and lightly wet- just the way I like them POTATO- Crispy outside, fluffy inside, nicely seasoned, but would prefer a heavier seasoning. PANCAKE- The best cooked pancake i’ve ever had. It almost looked TOO good. Like it was from a movie. Perfect texture, perfect golden brown color. The powder sugar was a very nice surprise! I topped it with butter and syrup and it was a wonderful combination of flavors between the maple and the slightly salty flavor of the butter spread.
PINEAPPLE YOGURT BOAT- Absolutely adorable. Made me smile every time I saw it’s little face. the Pineapple was fresh cut and super juicy, a nice selection of berries. I would’ve preferred more Almond Granola, but i’ll know to ask next time. The vanilla yogurt was light in flavor, and slightly sweetened.
BAILEYS ICED COFFEE- My partner ordered this and almost a second one once he finished. I tasted it and it was a perfectly blended coffee cocktail, sweetened without losing the flavor of the coffee. It was a nice bold roast flavor, and beautifully balanced.
BRUNCH PUNCH- Prosecco AND Vodka?! Who knew you could make a mimosa better? It was quite large, I was pleasantly surprised at the size, since it wasn’t listed in the menu.
Our server was an absolute sweet heart! She told us some interesting facts about Canadian dollars, the Lonnies and the Toonies. I can’t recall her name but she had Brown eyes and a Long dark braid. If she remembers us, I’d love for a response with her name in the comments, so that she can receive the credit she deserves for her amazing service.
We talked about this meal the entire trip, and it was an absolute highlight of my day. Thank you again TOAST, We will...
Read moreSo sad to have to do this. Toast used to be my son's and my favourite breakfast spot. We used to go every few weeks. The food quality has gone down so badly its not even edible anymore. Last week we went on Wednesday. My son always orders scrambled eggs well done, bacon well done and tater tots. The eggs were runny, and the bacon was black instead of crispy. I ordered a grilled cheese and my side was fries. My fries came 15 minutes before my sandwich and were salty from seasoning I could only eat 2 due to them literally hurting my tongue from the salt. My grilled cheese was so late because the cook made it on the wrong bread the first time. When I finally received it, it was literally the grossest thing I have ever seen in a restaurant. I couldn't even pick it up with my hands because it was such a sloppy gewy soggy mess! 😔 The sandwich was so under grilled the bread was extremely soggy, there was so much more cheese than bread that the only bite I took made me almost vomit. It was even gross to look at and I'm a cheese lover. That says a lot. The waitress took away our completely full meals and never asked if there was an issue & this very gross breakfast was $55+.
This sucks because the family that owns this restaurant is full of the sweetest people, but this is not acceptable.
Toast went from our favourite local restaurant to the one local restaurant we'll never step...
Read moreFour of us popped in on a Sunday morning close to 10:45 am. Parking was a nightmare, as there's a church across the street (and it was a Sunday morning). We dropped two people out front and went in search of parking. When we got to the restaurant (10 minutes later), there was a line up at the door. Fortunately, the two people were already seated, so we walked right in. Service was good, food average, place nondescript. I thought prices were on the higher end for brunch. When ordering, we asked for a side order of the pistachio pancakes (very good by the way). A full order was brought out (3 pancakes as opposed to two) . The person who ordered them told the wait staff that she had ordered a "side" (which she's done in the past at this restaurant). The staff member argued with her saying they don't do sides, which wasn't pointed out when ordered, and which wasn't the case as the she's had side orders before of this item. The staff member did offer to take one off the plate, but told us we'd still have to pay for a full order. Huh? We told her that if we'd be charged full price, just leave the full order. Other staff were very attentive with coffee refills, etc. Due to this unprofessional behaviour of this staff member, I would not return and won't recommend...
