We were a group of 6 that arrived at 6:20 for a 6:30 reservation. The restaurant was extremely busy, VERY loud and in my opinion overcrowded. There were several large groups throughout the restaurant and tables very close to one another which made it extremely hard to hear people in our group talking. We were seated immediately; however waited at least 15 minutes before a drink order was taken and our water glasses filled. We were told that 2 different waitresses would be serving our table that evening but clearly there was miscommunication as we did not receive our main entrees until well AFTER 8:00 pm! I can see having multiple waitresses for a larger group but not for a table of 6. Several groups around us, who arrived well after us, had already been served their entrees. Unfortunately, our waitress was dismissive and tried to give excuses that a paying customer doesn’t want to hear. I finally asked to speak with the manager who did apologize; however, kept saying “BUT it’s Saturday night and we are very busy.” Although he seemed to be apologetic, he only offered a dessert to make up for the shortfalls that evening. The last thing we wanted to do was to sit there even longer waiting for a dessert when we hadn’t even seen our main entrees yet. We had been in Windsor that day for my daughter’s baby shower and this was supposed to be a nice celebration at the end of the day for our family which turned into an absolute disaster. We had no idea this dinner would take this long as we still had a 3 hour drive home. The waitress was RUDE and argued with me at the table trying to defend her position as to why the food was delayed which I found to be very unprofessional. She should have checked on the status of our order the first time we mentioned how long we had been waiting and NOT until I had to ask for a manager. I did tell the manager that the food was wonderful but unfortunately I would not pay a gratuity for service not received. Overall, our food was very good but very disappointed on our service and outcome of our visit. I picked this restaurant based on reviews I read so feel it only fair to leave a review that reflects my...
Read moreHighest regards to both the chef and waiter. By far one of the greatest meals I've had in Windsor.
My wife and I ordered the bruchetta to share. It came with 4 slices of bread, in a very adequate portion size. Just enough to get your mouth watering for more.
My appetizer was the Gamberi Arrabiata. There were about 7 or 8 perfectly cooked tiger shrimp placed in a pool of the most heavenly and delicious sauce. Originally, we didn't get bread sent to our table because we ordered the bruchetta, but instead I got some extra bread to soak up the delicious sauce. It's a lick your plate clean kinda good. (If you don't like spice, you probably won't like it, but I love spicy food, and I didn't want to stop eating it.)
My wife got the Tuna for her appetizer. The presentation was great, and the tuna tasted delicious. A perfectly light, nice start to the meal.
I got the Lamb for my main. I ordered it medium. And it was cooked perfectly medium. Just the slightest bit of pink, no raw spots, and not overcooked. The juciest and most tender cut I've eaten. It was situated on top of a mushroom risotto which soaked up the flavors coming off the meat.
My wife ordered the lobster penne, and it was also packed full of flavour. Tender lobster, and an incredible pasta dish.
I got cheese cake and coffee for dessert. It was creamy and delicious. My wife got the creme Brule. Probably the lightest and fluffiest creme Brule I've ever tasted. Most creme Brule's are really rich and over sweet. Not this one. It would be easy to eat 2 or 3 of them in a single sitting.
Presentations were top notch, food quality was unbeatable, service was excellent.
If I could cancel my reservations for tomorrow and go back to Mezzo, I would in a heartbeat. The quality speaks for itself.
Mario was our server. He was by himself, sat, bussed, served, and waited all tables. Even though he was busy, he never skipped a beat. Very talented. He made our experience memorable and was a fantastic host.
All in, 3 apps, 2 mains, 2 desserts + drinks came to $187.
Excellent price for what we got. 1st place we are coming to when we return to windsor, and with friends to share...
Read moreHad dinner there tonight. Used to go quite often when I lived in town, but since moving away it’s been a couple of years. Place wasn’t that busy for a Saturday night as I thought it would be packed. Once we were sat at our table our waiter ( a shorter guy with white hair) came up and asked what we wanted. No introduction, not asking us if we’d like something to drink. It was pretty abrupt. We did eventually get some water (even though we asked for some) from a different waitress walking by. The arancini was amazing and I had the veal saltimboca and it was also very good. My wife had the stuffed salmon and even though I thought it tasted good she complained to me it was too oily. Every table has a candle on it and the server lights it when you’re seated but ours was never lit, and when I asked about it the one other waiter said she’d look for a lighter but never came back to light it. The servers were generally friendly but i can get generally friendly at an A&W. I expect much better service from a place where dinner for two runs me $120. I can see why the place isn’t packing them in anymore. Good food, fair prices but boy oh boy that service staff needs some retraining. Our waiter even complained about working a wedding the previous night as an excuse for his mistakes ( I didn’t list them all there were at least 5 or 6 more) was considering dessert but wasn’t offered a dessert menu so that made it easy. Front of house letting down the back and ownership. Hope they can get...
