The cafe provides comfortable seating and ample spacing between tables. The food was brought promptly to my table after ordering for which I was thankful.
The service left a lot to be desired. I presume due to how this cafe has chosen to respond to COVID-19 it does not currently provide menus so orders are taken at a cashier counter which in itself was fine but the lack of friendliness by the staff member taking orders at cash was unexpected. The waitress didn't even offer a hello or crack a smile and used a strident tone of voice that was very off putting. Better training in customer service might be a good idea.
My Farmers Breakfast included eggs over easy which meant a runny yolk. Unfortunately they lay the breakfast atop brown paper and over the plate so that when you are cutting your egg, bacon and or sausage you rip into the paper and end up with a mash of egg yolk, meat and brown paper bits ... not something any customer should have to put up with. When I brought this up to the attention of one of their staff behind the counter the reply was "It's water soluble paper so there is nothing we can do about it" then he walked away annoyed that I had even mentioned it. Obviously there shouldn't be any paper underneath a breakfast that will soak the paper and cause it to tare. Picking bits of paper off of my meal as I attempt to eat it is far from desirable even if it is a cute touch to have paper as a decorative feature
While I appreciate the fact that this is a non for profit diner run to help youth I still expect a high level of and proper customer service. Attention to feedback and reception of it is the correct attitude rather than a dismissive, annoyed and irritable attitude. I was never asked how my breakfas was once it was brought to my table .. quality control should include customer feedback especially when a customer has a valid concern and it felt like this is not a priority here.
The lack of friendliness, lack of attention to detail and rudeness turned what could have been a pleasant experience into a disappointing visit.
I would recommend other breakfast places based on...
Read moreService is great, staff are very attentive and thorough. My issue is around the fact that I had enquired about catering and the menus notes that a personalized menu can be arranged with enough notice. I made contact 6 weeks prior to the event. I was told I could order off the regular menu but would have to pick it up. I placed the order for wraps and picked it up. The wraps were not what I have come to expect from eating in house. They were smaller, with far less contents than any other time I had eaten there. The salad that was included was supposed to be for 15 people (cost $60) and was not sufficient. I have worked in catering for years and can usually estimate portions well, especially for a group I order for regularly. In any case, it's truly unfortunate because supporting organizations such as this is something we should all do but it's very difficult to justify the cost vs....
Read moreI have to say I have not physically been to this cafe. I have only ordered food from Skip the Dishes. For some odd reason the rating is only at a 7.3 there. I really dont understand why. This is by far one of the best breakfast places in London. The food always tastes fresh and healthy. I have loved everything that I have tried. If you are ordering through Skip do not pay attention to the low rating. This place is fabulous. I will try and make a physical visit one day. I dont know much about its cause but from what I have read they train young people. Well they are doing an excellent job!!! Thank you also for keeping the...
