Guest Wok — Restaurant in Orangeville

I am absolutely appalled at the way we were treated at this place of business this evening. We ordered food for a family of five - 7 dishes total. When the order was placed and confirmed online through the Guest Wok website the confirmation stated our order would be delivered within 30 minutes. We placed our order early, having three children under the age of 5. After waiting for 45 minutes we called to check on the status of our order. We were told that they “were very busy tonight,” and that the “timing on the website is wrong.” We asked for an update on our order and were told it wasn’t even finished being made yet, and that if we were unhappy with how long it took they didn’t care if we just cancelled our order. Throughout the conversation we were nothing but polite and respectful yet were met with raised voices, talking over us, rudeness and disrespect. To say I was shocked by the tone of voice, language and volume I was met with on the phone is an understatement. Our food arrived more than an hour after being ordered (twice the expected delivery time), we were still charged full price as well as delivery fee, and we will most definitely NOT be returning to this establishment. I have reviewed Guest Wok before, under different circumstances and they ranked a 5 for the food.

This review is for environmental awareness and listening to the customer.

As I love this place but love the environment more I asked for a non-plastic friendly option to eat in.

First they have no sustainable options. Second, when I offered to bring a clean plastic container from the Guess Wok to reuse they refused as it may contaminate the kitchen.

On three attempts I voiced my opinion for sustainable choices and received three strikes.

Even the Bulk Barn, right across the street, promotes the use of your own containers and they don’t warn of food contamination.

So on the last day of trying, I brought in my clean container, was turned away and went around the corner to grab a sub to eat with my friend.

Three attempts at a greener planet means three less stars or a two out of 5!

If you want to eat, dine-in, sustainable Chinese food my choice is Four...

WOW is all i can say. Guest Wok has the most unprofessional people working for them. after miscommunication on pricing because online states something different than what they said word of mouth, the delivery driver was yelling at us, calling us names, and extremely confrontational. we live 15-20 minutes away from the restaurant and online said “out of town delivery is $9.50” but the restaurant is telling us we have to pay $20. after calling the restaurant and asking to speak to the manager, the lady on the phone LAUGHED at me and then put me on hold. the manager then wouldn’t let me talk, kept talking over me and said “it won’t happen again.” it is absolutely unbelievable the way we were treated tonight. i have never been disrespected like that from a restaurant and their employees. not only are they getting a 1 star and a review on this behaviour, but i will be taking this further. i will NEVER be supporting this...
