Churchills Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Oshawa

Went in to try this place. Customer service was ok. It was busy so understandable. Ordered my food, food was ready and no payment forms except cash. Nowhere is that indicated "cash only", then had to use there over priced ATM machine. Red Flag. Came home food smelled great family was excited. Ordered the steak on a Keiser (was tasteless and they didn't follow instructions) Ordered the gyro on a bun, I almost threw up from the awful taste that was mixed with oil and fish. Gyro are on a skewer not in a deep fryer. They obviously never made gyros before. Ordered the Chicken Souvlaki on a bun well if I was a health inspector I would have shut the place down. The chicken was moldy and smelled like something died. They tried hiding it with so much onions, tomatoes and tzatziki. That the taste was unbearable and disgusting. I gave it a 1 star because the wings and fries where the only thing edible on the menu. Unfortunatly I will not be returning to this shop at the fear of saminella poisoning. I am sure there fish and chips is good but not...

wanted to try this mom and pop shop as there are not many around now a days. went in the place was busy which was a great sign. ordered 1 halibut and chips for take out. price was understandable. came time to pay and to my surprise they didn't even accept any form of payment except for cash.

server was rude as ever and said if i wanted the food i had to use their own atm to pay for it. i started laughing and said where is the bank i will go there instead of paying the ridiously fees of the atm. i asked them why isn't it stated anywhere that they are cash only. they just smirked and said they don't have to let anyone know. i again said you know what forget it and left the food there and advised that i would never come back, i'm sure the food would have been fantastic, but the lack of customer service just ruined the entire night for me. I would have not had a problem if they just stated from the start it is cash only but to wait till the end is just a waste of food and...

The food, customer service and atmosphere are all superb. Clean restaurant, friendly staff who always greet you with a smile and cozy spot for great fish & chips with yummy gravy (no lumps) and deluxe coleslaw.. it's deluxe because of the effort and ingredients put in it to make it awesome: cabbage, carrot, perfectly diced green peppers and celery in a unique, sweet vinagrette. Excellent!!!!

UPDATE: Post-covid this place got a bit pricey. Recently went there and my order took longer and cost more than expected. The fish was still good but the Greek salad was disappointing didn't have fries and gravy just a pop with my order. It wasn't fresh and had lots of onions, lettuce and soggy tomatoes not that much cucumbers; the ratio of ingredients needed more balance. They use what tasted like goat feta, I prefer regular feta.

The Greek salad dressing was the star of the show; creamy and tasty! Won't order a Greek salad again but will surely ask for the dressing to dip...
