Waltzing Weasel Pub - Oshawa — Restaurant in Oshawa

My husband and I have been going there for years. I'm pretty sure I've gone through not one but three new owners in the last decade and in that time I've had great service, ok service and then tonight's service.... absolutely horrible. Our server was Kaitlyn, she took our order then informed us that the cook wasn't too happy with making our food as apparently the kitchen closes at 1050pm on a Saturday night meanwhile the bar stays open until 2a.m. according to Google. But ok we asked for no jalapenos on our nachos, extra salsa and sour cream as we're sharing but want our own - makes sense, we get our food with a whole lot of jalapenos on top last meal of the day glad to see he doesn't take anything personally oh and no extra salsa or sour cream. "Oh yeah he just put it into the same container" but that's not what we asked and given how we knew the cook was upset we just moved forward and ate our meal. At this point we had a new server who didn't feel the need to tell us this. No quality check. Bar was dead, restaurant had about 4 tables at this point (ours included) waiting..... waiting.... My husband's drink empty for about 20 minutes..... 25.... 30 finally I had enough and chased down our new server to ask for our bill who was on her phone. I was pissed. Her excuse was apparently Kaitlyn had to be rushed to the hospital and she's trying to figure out her cashouts and tables (Her words not mine).

1. if it's true then an employee left the place and everyone high and dry but where was the manager? Hell where was the cook or anyone to help the other girl who was clearly in the weeds? Where was the ambulance? Something! Or
2. poor lying and poor service.

I'd say a little bit of both. We have a server who up and leaves and a team of employees who clearly don't have each other's backs.

Incredibly disappointed, and let's face it nothing will be done or changed as the owners are...

On the evening of June 22nd, which I am noting so the owners can easily identify the staff on duty, my companion and I stopped in for a brief drink while our meal was being prepared at the neighboring establishment.

We observed a table of seven guests on the patio. Inside, we noticed two tables occupied by two people each, which didn't seem very busy, and we thought that might not be a positive sign for the establishment. We took a seat at a table. While we were seated, I observed another couple had entered and were waiting to be greeted and seated. We had set a timer on our watch for 20 minutes, as that was the estimated time for our food preparation next door.

With five minutes remaining on the timer, the couple at the door turned around and left, as they had not been greeted. I then stood up to look for a member of the staff. The woman appeared to be behind the counter, possibly entering a tab, she was alone frustrated with herself and her situation. However, she did not look up or acknowledge the people waiting outside, the door or us. With only three minutes left on our 20-minute timer, a server approached us with the menu and inquired if she could assist us. We exchanged glances and decided that it was unlikely that she could bring us our drinks within the remaining ten minutes, let alone the three minutes we had left. Therefore, we decided to leave.

It appears that a minimum of four customers were lost due to the visible staff member seeming overwhelmed while serving three tables in a bar with a capacity of 150. Could it have been a challenging day?

Could you please elaborate on what transpired?

Furthermore, I am curious as to how many additional patrons might be lost as a result of this issue with...

I have been here a few times and have had usually had a good time but this last time I had a terrible experience. My waitress on September 21, 2025 at dinner time was Donna and I was with my sister and boyfriend. We ordered two appetizers, they both ordered drinks and I had water to start. Then they both ordered pizza each and I had a wrap. It was taking a bit for some of the drinks as she said the bartender was backed up, she liked to pass blame to others, but we didn’t say anything and just enjoyed each others company. We got our appetizers and ate and always put any left overs onto one plate and stacked the plates for her and gave thanks. When we got the pizza we noticed the Mediterranean pizza had just tomatoes and cheese and nothing more and had brought it to her attention. She let us keep the incorrect pizza and got the kitchen to make us the pizza we ordered which was greatly appreciated. When we got our bills I noticed that the bill for my boyfriend and I had an extra beer on it and I brought it to her attention and she was instantly questioning me about me being upset with her, very rudely and bluntly. I just said no but felt put off by it. When I grabbed all the bills Donna wanted the incorrect one back and my sister wanted a picture of it for her records and Donna instantly went into defence mode accusing us of harassing her all night and saying we were going to make her cry. We had each tipped her well despite multiple reasons not listed above because it would be too long to not to have tipped but we still had. However, our food and service were were far below...
