I've always wanted to try Fry Guys and I thought there is no better time to try then at the recently opened location on Taunton in Oshawa.
I ordered a cheeseburger with everything on it and a regular side order of fries. This cost me close to $21 after tax which is a little absurd.
The food itself took about ten minutes to be prepared and in that time I helped myself to some of the shelled peanuts that they had available sitting in boxes by the entrance.
When my order number was collected I found a table and ate my food.
The burger came wrapped in what looked like a standard aluminum foil. I was a little surprised that it didn't have any Five Guys branding on it whatsoever.
The burger itself was loaded. Overall it tasted good. I wasn't too keen on the bun. It was too soft and fluffy. I found that toppings didn't want to stay on and made quite a mess. Maybe if it was toasted it would have held up much better.
The fries were pretty good but could've used more salt. I was thoroughly impressed with the amount of fries that were in the bag. There was certainly more than I ever expected and you could easily feed two with one order.
Overall the experience was ok at best. I certainly wasn't wowed in any way and most likely...

Located conveniently in a busy area, this spot is popular with both locals and travelers alike. The menu is straightforward, focusing on what they do best—burgers, fries, and shakes. The burgers are consistently juicy and flavorful, with a range of toppings that allows you to create your ideal burger. The fries, cooked in peanut oil, are crispy and generously portioned, with the Cajun variety offering a nice kick of spice.
Service at this location is friendly and efficient, though it can get crowded during peak hours, leading to a bit of a wait. However, the free peanuts and the knowledge that your meal is being made fresh to order make it worth the short delay.

Read moreOverall your average five guys food, and experience. It’s fried up burgers and fries so don’t get your expectations too high.
The food is decent. Nothing too noteworthy. You get the typical menu items, and the much loved extra fries in the bag. Sometimes the fries are more salted than other times. This can happen depending on the staff that day. Pricing is affordable.
Service is typically slow, but this is somewhat the standard for five guys. Despite it being a burger and fries joint they tend to take more time to prep items. Staff was generally disengaged throughout at this particular location.
Atmosphere was busy, with a long line. Location was dirty. Tables had not been bussed and floors had food items littered throughout.
Overall, not a terrible experience. Realistically I don’t expect much from a burger and fries place so this one’s as average to slightly below average for me. However, I would recommend if you are in the mood for a decent burger, fries or milkshake if you...
