Review: I agree, they don't want you to have people in your party having two different menus. Obviously, they think you are going to take advantage of the AYCE menu. Sadly, it may have happened so they don't want people taking advantage, but you have to separate your party to do this? I agree with another Reviewer here that it's not fair. Recent visit, the server argued about this, you can't have two different menus (A la carte) or (AYCE). Food took a while to arrive. Even if they use a robot to bring it to your table. Soup was awful!! The won ton soup used to be amazing. Now they buy the frozen prepared ones. It's like eating a chunk of playdoh. Broth has no taste at all. The miso soup had no taste either, like warmed up water. Another Reviewer here stated the same thing. Salad was drenched in dressing, barely any vegetables. Lettuce looked like it was thrown in without any care. Either new cooks or poor management. This wasn't the case before. Service was not friendly at all. They are keen to clear plates and drop cutlery on the floor when requested. It feels as if they want you to eat fast and leave. Yet you are waiting for your food to come???!! They were only friendly when you are paying your bill and keep an eye on you when you type in the tip amount or percentage. This location of Makimono has gone downhill. Sadly, they must have new management that doesn't care about it's service, food or atmosphere. They have total control in their hands to do better. Don't think we will return to this location again. Read moreWe had my dancing competition for my daughter in Oshawa so thought we would treat her to a nice dinner. When we got there we had to wait for about 15 minutes but that was fine and expected. Once we sat down that's when the nightmare started. Food took forever on several selections, too long is 20 minute waits. They barely cleaned off our dirty plates during the whole meal. We asked several times but no one showed, they just kept dropping off food. Finally the last order the girl serving our last order shows up and looks at the table wondering where to place the last items. I had already stacked several plates that you can see in our picture. I said "I am done stacking so if you can find more space go for it" she says "I will get someone to clear this up" The guy shows up and says can I clear some of this up for you. I barely ever get angry but this place four the 4 of us was $114 before tip. I said are you all insane. We have eaten our whole meal through this mess and it has made it less than a desirable atmosphere for us. The water was filled once and then our desert arrived before our final order of food, that we ended up cancelling as we had now been there over 2 hours. I have to tell you that this is the first time in my life I left zero for a tip. I could not believe that you would get treated like this at a place that charges this much. Food was average, service the worst I have had and expensive. So take it from me, we have been to several all you can eat places but this place should be out of business soon enough. Read moreI have always gotten my sushi from here as I live very close but my last experience was awful. I called and placed my order and waited the time they told me to which was 15 minutes before picking it up. I had my 1 year old with me so hence why I waited the time before pickup so I wouldn’t have to chase after him inside. It wasn’t ready so we had to wait which is fine but I was trying to keep him entertained and showed him a plant. He unfortunately grabbed it much harder and quicker than I was ready for and it fell over and the soil made a small mess. Usually I would have cleaned it up but I figured they have gloves or brooms so I don’t need to get myself dirty. The lady was very rude to me and never said a word until she came back to clean in and told me I should clean it and she will get my son a high chair. My mouth dropped! Not only did she not say anything to me before that but she had the audacity to make me feel horrible as a customer. She also said it’s my responsibly and I have to take care of my child. I had already paid at this point so I waited for my food ( which took much longer than the stated time). I work a customer service manager at a bank and my expectations in customer service is you take care of your customers and at a minimum not make they feel worse.
